I am rather a quirky fellow in real life, and I like to add little bits of magic to my everyday attire. Most days I wear a black waistcoat, blue velvet jacket and bowtie, so as you can imagine I seem rather excentric. I wear the classic time machine and so on, for me its the little things that make someone magical.
I've always wanted to have an umbrella though, but walking down the street with one does look somewhat foolish in this age. I was wondering if there is an appearing umbrella that could be kept on my person until appropriate. It need not be a very practical umbrella, and the size virtually is a non-issue (though I am 6'3"), but I do hope to find something. My worry is that nothing will be available that can be carried discretely. If anyone has any thoughts please PM me, as I would love to hear them! xx
I come from the future to culture you poor sods with fire.

I have a production umbrella made from the standard black hooked handle real job. In essence the bulk of the center rod is gone, making the handle the longest stiff part of it. It must be produced by the handle and allowed to hang. I used to produce it from a square circle.
It would easily fit into a vest or an inside coat pocket. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I got it over 30 years ago. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

This may be a dumb question, but does this really fit in the close-up, walk around section? I'm asking, as I can't picture myself pulling this off in this setting.

I would think cloth and plywood would be a very poor substitute for what I have. What I have is a real man's umbrella when held handle up and point down. Since that is also the way to produce it, it looks very convincingly real.
It might work from a notebook or business portfolio modeled after a Temple screen. (Perhaps rolled in a close-up pad!) For walk-around ditching it would be a greater problem. For Eshla it is really part of his costume. You might produce the umbrella, hook the handle in the collar on the back of your coat to free your hands for other tricks. Then when ready to move on, remove the umbrella (keeping it hanging down) put the hook handle over the arm and stroll away to where you could reset it. It is a bit, not a trick per se.
