Dan,
you hit the nail right on the head. Was told that by another vent, that is a Anderson head. When you're use to the smooth controls of Hartz, Selberg, Lavendar and Dummmyworks (yes, there's others), this is a step DOWN!!!! Looked thru my picture file and found one dated 2005, which is when is was mostly done. |

It may be a Bill Anderson head in the inside, but it's definitely a Bill Nelson head on the outside now.
While Bill Anderson's controls may not have had the "polish" of the others you mentioned, I thought his heads were a great thing to be available. If someone couldn't afford to buy a regular completed figure, or wanted something different but couldn't afford to order something custom from a figuremaker, those heads were available rather cheaply from Bill. The person buying one could end up with a great looking head with just some work on their own, but the basics were done for them. He also sold hands that you just had to sand and paint, and bodies (collapsible ones even) - basically, Bill was offering "kit" figures long before the current flood of people offering them. I bought two of those heads from Bill back when, finished the first one, started the second, but never finished it, I didn't like working with the plastic wood that much, aside from the obnoxious fumes, sanding was a real pain because plastic wood really loads up sandpaper quickly. But on the one I completed, I didn't find his square headstick uncomfortable to use, and his controls really held up well. I just realized recently that I still have one of his bodies in my shop, I thought I had sold it off when I sold off the first head I completed and the second head some years ago when I was thinning out some of my vent stuff.

Could be that he has that worried look, as he had to go through at least 3 owners before arriving in his permanent home.
