The Man Who Made Ice Famous

American comedy magician Frank Van Hoven (1886-1929) is credited as the man who made ice famous.

In one of his acts he selected three members of the audience and asked them to come on stage. He requested that one should hold a large block of ice, another should hold a candle and the last should hold a bowl of water.

However, he couldn't make up his mind as to which person should hold which prop. As his volunteers tried to follow his instructions, the water was spilt, the candle was extinguished and the ice slipped. Van Hoven shouted so much that he became hoarse and the show ended in chaos.

What would be your favourite comedy magic routine?

Toad,

My favourite is the blindfold card stabbing routine that Bob Sheets performs. It's an excellent combination of side-splitting comedy and strong magic.

Regards,

John
