"In the 6th century, Buddhism was introduced to Japan, along with mainland music and masked dances. Sangaku became popular.
"Sangaku included acrobatic stunts, magic tricks, and pantomime. Records of early performances show illustrations of human pyramid balancing, a lion dance, many sword tricks and a monkey jumping through a hoop. "Saru is the Japanese word for monkey. Trained monkeys became so poplar the name Sangaku gradually changed to Sarugaku. The preceeding is paraphrased from a translation of a Japanese text. It's part of my patter. My character is a thirteenth century, trick sword expert and escape artist. I throw in some Chinese style, Chi Kung influenced PK for variety, timing and suspense.
