I have the original Telethought Wallet and I have to ask this question. I think I must be missing something...so with respect, can someone explain to me why you would use a Telethought over a Thought Transmitter?

As I say: I've used both...and have found only the Thought Transmitter operates flawlessly. I have had times when the visual from the telethought was very hard to get...but the Thought Transitter is a quick flash and, regardless of the lighting I get a perfect p**k.

For that matter...I get wonderful p**ks from my SAW from Alakazam...when I open it to get my own business card out so I can replicate the drawing. With both the Assassin and the Thought Transmitter, I don't need to be concerned about lighting or the angles. Plus I have always been concerned about flashing the image of the Telethought, since so often I perform surrounded.

So to be clear: I'm not dissing the Telethought Wallet or the people who are obviously delighted with it. Not at all. I just keep thinking I am missing something.

Hey David-

I compared the T1 and T2 recently. A friend showed me his T1 and I found that the lighting and angles were more of a slight challenge - as you say - maybe not 100%.

I bought the Telethought 2 a few weeks ago and I am thrilled with it - mainly because the p**k is very very natural in just an outstretched palm and the lighting issue seems to have "faded" (pun intended).

The T1 seemed to force an unnatural way of holding the wallet for best angles -especially with the window at the front.

The Telethought 2 allows completely natural handling in hand, a very quick and natural view, and so I think it is head and shoulders above the first model. I don't think you will be disappointed with a T2 - it surpassed my expectations and I am enjoying it.

I thought the T1 handling completely natural. Am I missing something?

- looking that the T1 demo video posted on the first page of this topic, the card is placed in the interior pocket and the wallet closed. This seems
completely natural to me, 'closing the door' on possible ways to peek.

- It appeared that the simply having the wallet on the table, in view where everyone could see it was again, very natural.

- The angles looked excellent, but not having seen it 'live' and in various lighting conditions, can't comment here.

I hear you - and I only got to mess with the T1 and never owned one.

The naturalness advantage of the T2 from what I can see is that the T2 allows a very clear viewing angle coupled with the in hand opening of the wallet. No need to adjust up down, or any slight angling really.

I can't knock the T1 other than what I saw when I tried it - which was that I couldn't really get an immediate p**k in my hand with it flat or with the wallet on the table. If you look at my post when I saw it I was worried that the T2 would have the same perceived (for me) lighting issue. But when I got the T2 I found it was a different and improved animal.

Do you own both to compare? That's probably the best. My Friend who showed me his T1 just sold his and got a T2 as well and (according to him) the clear window on the outside looks "suspicious" whereas a window inside looks normal.

Of course we all love the latest and greatest - the T1 I'm sure was superb and ground breaking... but the evolutionary design improvements on the new Telethought take it several steps forward as a natural tool.

That's funny, as I have seen card cases that have a window on the outside, so to me, that read as 'normal' Smile

And, I don't own either. I was commenting on the demo from the first page, which made me wonder. The truest test is certainly from those who have owned the first and seen the second, naturally.

It's funny you say that. Because the blank window on the front of the wallet has bugged me since I saw it. Why is there a blank window? If it's for displaying a business card, why isn't there a business card in it?

This, I think is the major advantage of TTW2 if the window is on the inside.

To me, the whole appearance of the wallet screams 'magic prop.' My SAW wallet IS my everyday wallet. It looks worn and draws no attention at all when I use it for an effect.

So why not PUT a business card in it? When I use Telethought 1, I start out with two business cards in the window ( among other places), take one out for the spec to write, place it where it needs to go, then close the card case (as it isn't really a wallet but a card case) and concentrate. Take the next one out of the window to write on it and you have what you need instantly.

One guy I know just puts one in the window and takes it out for the spec. The spec writes and places it face down in the case closes it and hands it to the performer. Work and p**k are done.

Now all this is assuming the lighting angles are correct. That's my issue with Telethought 1. You could have very strong lighting, but if its even lighting, it doesn't work well. You really need the light source to come from over either shoulder or directly behind you. It needn't be all that strong, just from that angle. Does telethought 2 have the same issues?

As to screaming "magic prop", well, that's a matter of opinion. The venerable Caper Case, among others, have windows and pass muster quite well. I have seen many business card cases in leather and department stores with windows in them. They don't scream "magic prop".

I think, in the vast majority of cases, the only people who hear the voice that screams "magic prop!!!" are magicians.

"It's funny you say that. Because the blank window on the front of the wallet has bugged me since I saw it. Why is there a blank window? If it's for displaying a business card, why isn't there a business card in it?"

There *is* one in it (well, not in the demo, but...) when you do the routine. You take it out, have the spec write their whatever on it, and then open the wallet and put it in the pocket. Perfectly natural and logical. No one is going to be thinking, "Wait, something's wrong - that business card wallet has a window on the outside!" Smile Especially as some business card wallets are made that way.

(Note: I am NOT saying TT2 is illogical at all. It is not.)

Now, if the 2nd edition has a much better peek function due to improved mechanics, that trumps.

Some great commentary here - the reason I think the II version works better is that the position of the window when flapped open in a palm held at slightly below the shoulder..is ideal for catching the light. Now the comment about equal light is right on BUT the T2's nataural open position is what gives it the edge.

I don't think the technology of the 3M film is necessarily better per se. The improvement (I feel) is in improved engineering of the wallet so that it doesn't fight you. It works the way a performer works.

The T2 wallet apparently sold like hotcakes at Blackpool - and deservedly so.

If you watch Paul Richard’s video demonstration of Telethought Wallet II you will see that he utilizes all of its new features in a very natural manner.

Having both I can compare: TW II allows a more natural handling what you can see also clearly in Paul's video demo. And it looks not like a magic prop. IMHO it's an improvement without any doubts. Jan

Hi all

I don't own this or the previous version, however I am considering purchasing a peek wallet, either Telethought 2, SAW or Outlaws Pantera. I have a concern with the Telethought 2 though... what is it SUPPOSED to be to the layman, there doesn't appear to be enough pockets to pass it off as a business card holder and it certainly (in my opinion )doesnt pass as a normal wallet, so what is it? Ive never seen anyone pull anything like this out of their pocket in my life, so it certainly wouldnt look the norm in my neck of the woods.

It looks ike a business card wallet. I've seen wallets like this before. You can fit proabably 8-10 cards @ the inner pocket, a card at the inner window (great idea Paul) and a few whatevers at the outside pocket. I am now putting a few bills at the inner pocket.

This wallet ssems to have a laserlike purpose - works like a charm and doesn't take much pocket space.

Sure thie are way fancier wallets - you should be comparing a Showdown or Infinity with a Telethought thought - apples and oranges. In Infinity or whatever offers much more versatility probably.

These are all tools. Think of the task and how much pocket space you need IMO.

I have now road tested both versions thoroughly.

I have my favourite. Would you like to know which one it is? You might be surprised.

Well let me guess...

Look if the routining is on the money then either wallet can work BUT the real question is which one (as a tool) offers the most natural peek. The answer is pretty apparent but now that Andi is buiding the anticipation - lay it on me baby!

Ok guys, I'll be letting the cat out of the bag within the next day or so.

I've found and road tested a new use for my 'favourite' Telethought wallet which is STRONGER than how you are all currently using it.

All will be revealed soon.
