The download limit has been reached... 3 times for the table Faro video. I said 25 and I eventually allowed 75. Sorry but I won't allow more. Looks like I'm the last one demonstrating moves here, and, as you can see, it generates very little comments, discussions, exchanges, etc. I'll post more videos about it soon though, don't despair . |

Great stuff.
Question: does the Special Edition include technique, or is it strictly the formulae? Thank you! |

Thanks guys. @P McC #1 SE is just about formulas. Buyers of #1 wanted more formulas, for Draw Poker for instance. Plus other types of stacking, like double-duke, etc. But there are tons of examples, drills, etc. "Theory" is just in #1. Apparently, almost everyone got #1 and #1 SE... @To others. I blocked the video. From now on, all my videos will be publicly available 100 times only (100 different IP addresses). |

Nice video! I appreciate the fact you put a few different types of stacking. I believe it's the first time I saw you do an overhand stack. Really nice! I didn't think there would be one when I read the posts. I realise I never really bothered practising it.
Personnally and to where I am, I enjoyed the standard riffle stack. No crimp right? ( If I may ask...)That is one the drills I try to do, but I use a crimp that I put prior to the cut. I lose all the natural ease you have every time I ''feel''/stack more then 3 cards with my left thumb. While watching your video, I think I may be trying to go to fast, and it looks like that is not needed to look natural... Also, and that is probably just me, but I always get a kick of using bellys and stacking them in a standard riffle. This is video is a nice addition to the Arcanum #1. As usual, it is always a pleasure to watch your videos, thank you. Slim |

Thanks Slim!
Yeah, first time I show overhand stacking skills... with a technique destroying Erdnase, Marlo, Schmidt or anyone you want! Just to give you a hint, the last shuffle is absolutely useless, just there for demonstration purposes. Thus, it's very fast... I have studied overhand methods for years. In amateur games it wasn't uncommon at all to see guys using the overhand shuffle in the past (less and less common nowadays). But formulas or techniques in books or videos are absolutely ridiculous! You see guys peeling off cards endlessly... So I had to devise my own techniques to look like credible. I have more than 120 pages of overhand stacking algorithms, formulas etc. But it will never be published, who cares about it now? I never use a crimp! I did in the past, but with plastic cards... For the two Faro stacks of the video, I use something special for marking the cut, will someone find it what it is? Hehehe... Going fast is useless. Unless you're a professional dealer working for a casino, of course. Same rhythm, consistency is more important. I kinda go fast because I want to make short videos because Internet bandwidth reasons. I'm a slow pace sleight addict. I've never enjoyed fast performers. It's impressive, sure, but it shines like a star in the night that you're all but an amateur... Thanks for your comment. |

Great video!
It's nice to see riffle stacking without any of the usual tells (e.g. pre-shuffle get-readys, tempo/rhythm changes, obvious holding back of blocks of cards, using a zarrow for the last shuffle etc). Something that I hope to be able to achieve some day. Thanks for sharing |

Arnold,
Out of interest and not directly related, who has done the best zarrow you've ever seen. Previously you said you have yet to see one done deceptively. |

As I said on Facebook, it is particularly great to see such techniques with an apparent non expert touch, if I can say so. Who could believe this guy is doing something funny? Great great work. The stacking formulas using the overhand shuffle should be printed, Arnold.
When you will make your work public, I am sure it will be quite a revelation for everybody. I am desperatly waiting for this.

You got me on cut marker! Looks great though! I have to go with Mister Sanvert in thinking that your formulas on overhand staking should be printed. If published, I would be a buyer. I like you guys thoughts on a slow pace techniques and no apparent expert touch. I appreciate the posts, Slim |

@deckster
Thanks. @jj/slim Overhand stacking is great. I've never understood why Magicians, who are very often standing up, don't use it that much. Stacking is not only a good weapon for card cheating purposes, but in Magic too! You pretend you're shuffling the deck while you are in fact positioning some cards where you want, isn't it wonderful? But no, you still see Magicians using double cut or ridiculous false shuffles... Go figure... For card playing, using a sloppy style like in the video, it's not that bad in amateur games (my context). But let's be honest, even beginners are asked to use the riffle shuffle as fast as possible . My formulas (provided no one did it before) are very powerful. But some practice is required. The good thing is that you don't have all those artifices used by others (pretending shuffling, bringing back bottom packets to the front, switching front and back packets, 10 hours long peel offs, etc.) which, even in my world, would be spotted in 5 seconds lol. But it would be quite some work to put all this work into a nice booklet. Who will be interested? 50 people at best. I prefer to focus on more important stuff. Thanks for your comments. That's why I post videos and I'd like others to do it too. We can debate, exchange, that's great. @bob I'll post later on the Zarrow... |

Very nice video, the "dirty" work looked as clean as can be! I am jealous.
I have only had time to look at the video briefly, but what jumped out at me is that your deck-squaring technique should be tossed (in my opinion) - it looks entirely too professional, and is something that one often sees magicians using (since it is in Royal Road Ch. 2, probably). I know it looks neat and graceful, but I think you're tipping your skills unnecessarily. Or do you have a reason for using it that I'm missing? |

@Elwood
Nice point man! In this "dirty" work (even if I think you guys exaggerate a bit, I'm not that dirty lol), the squaring of the deck is a bit obvious, i. e., it shows I didn't start to shuffle the cards last week... I think I do it more out of habit than anything else. I mean, when you are used to play cards, the most boring part, the one that can make you lose time during the shuffling and dealing procedures, is when you face cards protruding from the pack, non squared decks. That's why you misdeal, etc. So after a while, out of habit, you square the deck to avoid such things. But you're right here, it tips you know how to handle cards... But I think that everyone squares the deck one way or another. For instance, many guys tap the inner sides of the deck before the riffle. Which one is better, I don't know. Neat squared sides help for stacking accuracy too. Not to mention when you use a table Faro... Last thing, in many videos, I use very old decks, worn, etc. Which require more squaring action than brand new ones. About the methods I use, dunno where it comes from. I think guys like Z or Doc gave me some tips about it a few years ago. I'm gonna work on using less squaring action... Thanks for the point! EDIT! By the way, we also square the deck because we don't want to show we leave obvious jogs on the side of the deck. All players are not stupid . |

Just a few figures to illustrate how this forum works.
I don't know exactly why, but, apparently, many people want to see the last video I posted. When I say many, I mean, according to the audience size of this place. So! 125 people have seen it (95 different IPs) and 147 have tried since I blocked it. Roughly, 275 attempts -> 8 comments! In the past it was even worse, like 500 downloads for a video and 2 comments... Some send emails, complaining. Do you understand why I restrict my stuff now? As said 100 times before, I don't post for showing off (I'm not as good as Forte and surprisingly, I don't care at all). I post for improving, discussing, debating, exchanges and learning. Last year, my videos have been downloaded approximately 10,000 times, mainly from this place. Yet, it didn't generate 10,000 comments lol, far from it! So, guys, change your behavior. If you want this place to live, post, shoot videos, review books, DVDs, exchange. Comment! My only request is that I'd like you to be objective, give honest feelings. Don't be afraid to give your advice. Contexts are so varied and different... everything matters! Just get the last discussion a few posts above. What's the point to shuffle with a sloppy style to look like "amateur" when you square the deck like a pro? Me, I found it very interesting! I mean, nice points can arise from any discussion. Don't be shy. Stop lurking, participate! |
