Hi guys
Been a lurker on here for a bit (hotmail email user), but have now figured a way to register. I loved magic as a kid and did many magic shows for my family based on books from the library and the some help from a friend of my dad. But as I grew up I left magic behind for sports and then work. However, three years ago I became a single parent and was looking for something to do with my time. I was in Waterstones and Derren Brown’s ‘tricks of the mind’ book fell off of the shelve as I walked past it, I picked it up and had a little read (I had never actually seen his show before), this got me interested in magic again. I started buying books and really enjoyed learning the methods, but never seriously thought about actually performing. About a year ago a magician came to my daughter’s nursery and I found the show one of the most boring tedious things I have ever had to sit through. So based on this performance I told the nursery teacher that if she ever wanted another magician to come, I would do a show for them. I have since done three show’s for them and loved every minute, just to see the kids get excited and laugh and shout and really get involved with the show. My dad asked me if I would do a show for his birthday party, so I did 30 minutes of light mentalism and really enjoyed that. As well as doing tricks and pranks for friends, I have had the most fun hypnotising and recently have had an offer to do a stage hypnotism show with a friend of mine. Hopefully, as the kids grow up I will have more opportunities to perform (currently babysitting is a big problem), but for now I continue to learn and enjoy this mysterious art!! |

Greetings and welcome! Glad to hear that you've gotten back into it =) It's one of the most rewarding things that one can do. Many magicians today overlook the value that it has and they just go straight for the commercial aspect but one of the best feelings that I get is to see the looks on people's faces when they're really amazed, and not worry about how much I'm getting paid. Best wishes and good luck!
Cheers, Fred
