Hey Guys,
I have some R&S cards that I've used a lot and one or two got dirty enough on the S side that it started interfering with smooth working. I tried an abrasive cloth... big mistake, though I did discover a way to rough cards without roughing fluid. What do you use to clean and restore the S-ness to a card?

Well, Im trying an experiment, I'm using a gentle all-natural citrus household cleaner. I just put one or two tiny squirts on a paper towel, rub the card with it, then *immediately* rub it with a dry paper towel. It *seems* to be helping. I've put the cards in my press (2 books) to sit and I'll see tomorrow how they perform.

Okay I found a combined technique that actually is having decent if not perfect results.
First I do the corn-starch thing. (Shake the cards bag with a few piches of corn starch) Then I clean the rough sides with a paper towel lightly moistened with citrus cleaner and immediately wipe dry with a second, dry paper towel.

Try going over the "S" side with a silk.

When I was younger, I used to ribbon stread the cards out overnight and they seem to become better in the morning.
NOTE; If there is a lot of humidity in the air...do not do this...but, if the air is dry or there is air conditioning this works nicely. NOTE; If the cards have physical dirt, you may want to "buff" the cards by rubbing them on a cheap or rough carpet or cheap /rough towel. Good luck. NOTE: I personally do not like powders of any kind UNLESS you want the feel of a fanning deck.
