Uri has proven to be a very creative man. His para science book is really cool. Makes me feel like a big kid. Far stretch.
Maybe his creativity is the reason he has his psychic gifts. |

I would re-word that to
'Maybe he has Psychic gifts because of his creativity.' |

I had a hand in popularizing the musical "gifts" of Uri Geller. I'm not sure how big a hand, so don't lay all the blame on me.
When I was in college I had a radio show. One day I found Geller's record in the archives and decided to play it. It was hysterical. Years later, mid to late '90s, there was this great show on NPR called "The Annoying Music Show." I called in to suggest that they give Geller a listen, and soon he became on of the more popular 'annoying' artists they played. On Amazon somebody comments that they wonder why Geller's album got rediscovered and re-released in the year 2000. I think the Annoying Music Show was the reason why. If you haven't heard Geller's 'music,' you're really missing out. It makes the works of Leonard Nimoy sound virtuosic in comparison. --Chris |

Chris, whats next? Your going to tell us your a nucelar scientist in your spare time? Radio, Chicago's second best mentalist, is there anything you havent done?
Lenard Nemoy is like elvis to trekies. I wouldn't spread the Uri comparison around too much. |

Dr.Z,
Hey, I was just a listener who called in. But the real point is, you should listen to Geller sing. It's REALLY funny. --Chris |

For those of you who want more of Uri's singing voice he has just appeared on a programme called "Stars in the Eyes" on UK television. He sang "She".
The mike stand appeared to be miraculously straight when he'd finished... A |

And Chris, Geller is still better than Shatner (but not much). His MacArthur Park has been banned by the Geneva Convention as inhumane! Having worked entertaining and guarding Bill Shatner (and the rest of the cast from original Trek as well), I can attest to the fact that he's a very likeable guy. But as a singer - he's... deluded ... Lee Darrow, C.Ht.

Part of what makes Geller so awful is that he also writes the lyrics. I remember one in which he describes a woman's scent. The actual lyric is "Your body smells...." and then some insipid similie follows. Unfortunately the pause following "smells" is so long that you think that's the complete line --Chris |

Slightly off topic, sorry, but yesterday I bought 'Ella' by Uri Geller (for 10 pence - love those second-hand library books).
Now, I've got a HUGE number of books in my 'to read' pile, and I was wondering, should this bump 'Hellstrom's Hive' (Herbert) from the stack, or should I use Mr. Geller's tome to prop up my wobbly computer-table? Regards, Caleb Strange .

Caleb, your reply reminds me of a gag I did at a science fiction convention show many moons ago. Kind of a Karnak bit.
Holding envelope to my forehead: "The core of the sun, the center of a Black Hole and page 125 of Dhalgren!" Open envelope and read: "Name three places Man will NEVER go!" Samuel R. "Chip" Delaney, who wrote Dhalgren, was in the front row and collapsed in laughter. Oh, my checkered past! Lee Darrow, C.Ht.

Oh man, checkered doesn't even begin to describe it!
"Second best?! Waitaminnute - oh, okay, yeah, I get it now! I'M number one, Chris is number two... hehehehehehehe" Man I hope your better at mentalism then at comedy Just kidding. I need to get out and see more mentalists perform. Darrow, Carter, any performances coming up? I need to work a Hasslehoff medley into my stage show. Now that would clear out a theatre. |

I know for a fact that you don't need to be a great singer to entertain a crowd.... but if you think you are ... and you aren't ...you really need to read everyone else's mind... and if you can't.. You lose on both counts!
