Thanks for the shout out regarding Wolf's new "Rings of Truth." I am going to perform it 5 times (and for the first time publically for me) at the Ring 211 Abracadabra close up magic show on March 13 (see http://www.Ring211.com) I really like your idea of asking the person to answer some questions "maybe" rather than asking them to lie- then they do not have to be "liars" just to participate in the trick. What they say really doesn't matter anyway, but I haven't come up with a better story yet and basically will use the suggested "I can figure out your tells" routine. The trick is so cool in that you could instantly reveal what ring is taken, but that would be too fast- better to stretch it out with a "a revelation" explanation of some sort for sure- gets the spectator thinking they had something to do with it. I also will be using a thicker and larger silk or cloth than the one provided with the trick which is kinda too small and thin really (but still works). Thanks again for the podcast and all you do for the FCM. Go to http://www.themagicpodcast.com

We moved up the date to 3-15 for our next film taping program. I hope to record for the podcast a report from FCMers MagicBob and SuZie who are currently doing up to 4 Gospel magic and chalk art shows a day (some in a large tent) touring through Africa through February 22. Please pray for traveling mercies and good health for them and God's Spirit to be working.

Just another note on The Happie Amp: For the last prison show I did with MagicBob and SuZie- although we did not use microphones- the Amp worked well for SuZie's chalk art music. Hard to find a little portable stereo that sounds that good- we just plugged a cheap portable hand held CD player into the AUX line and it worked great. I have found that the hand held portable microphone sounds a little better talking right into it- the headset mic you have to put very close to your mouth to make it sound as clear/loud.

Some magic conventions are close to being "man caves"- bring in the LaZBoys. I know what you are thinking- was that 6 card tricks using a double lift and the false riffle selection that I just fired off or five? Do I have any left? Are you feeling lucky?

Episode 31 is now also up...the all magic quotes episode. All the wisdom shared is from issues of Hugard's Magic Monthly. It runs about 25 minutes. Another such episode will be produced in a few months (we have quite a few quotes recorded we didn't use.) We hope this is something folks will enjoy again and again. Consider it our "Valentine's Day present."
Episode 32 should be up in the first couple of weeks in March. ><> J

Thanks Kif- much appreciated! I will listen to it today for sure! I did a Gospel magic show yesterday for a large seniors luncheon- wow- one of the best audiences I ever had. Magic is still very popular- had a blast- glad to see older folks enjoying the routines- many of them inspired by/purchased through Laflin Magic.

Wow- some terrific quotes in there- much truth about magic. "It's often been proclaimed that magic is dead, that the good old days are over and modern audiences are too sophisticated to watch a magician. But the fantasy of magic has always been the root of any entertainment--and the promise of seeing it live, in front of our eyes, continues to be irresistible. "The love of mystery" was a part of the human condition, an unchanging trait... That's why another young, charismatic wonder-worker, surprising us with a combination of new feats and old classics, can always find an audience." -Jim Steinmeyer, page 343, in "The Last Greatest Magician In The World", released February, 2011.
