Hey there everybody
I have been doing magic on and off since 1977, doing kids parties as a youngster, a fair amount of stage work and some ad hoc close-up work. In the early days, Graham Kirk - winner of the South Africa Close-Up championshiop was my mentor and coach, does anybody here still remember him? My entry criteria was to master the coin roll, then he would teach me. Took me a long time, but I did I have only in the last 4 months really put my head down to rework my close-up act - I take great inspiration from the Professor Dai Vernon, enjoy the early creativity of Gary Kurtz and the gentle enthusiasm of Michael Ammar. I think Slydini's one-coin routine runs circles around much coin magic, and Chink-a-Chink from Malini is just beautiful. I enjoy mixing a bit of cold reading with some of my close-up work. I look forward to sharing ideas and learning from you all, in particular looking for infomation on how you package your close-up acts - mix of routines/tricks, how you carry and put away gear, etc. We'll chat more, I'm sure... Warm regards Paul (The Wiz) Mare

Welcome PaulMare,
While I don't know of Graham Kirk it is clear that you have good taste in Magic. I wish I had seen Malini's Chink-a-Chink. See you in "Table Hoppers and Party Strollers" forum. -Mary Mowder |
