I know windows mobile 7 is very new to the market but does anyone know of any magic related, currently existing apps for WM7?

Would anyone here be interested in WM7 apps? What would you like to see?

More specifically- would anyone find an app that helps you memorize a stack such as the Aronson or Tamariz stack useful?

I'm starting to get into development for WM7 and am thinking an app to help memorize stacks could be my first project. Thoughts?

I wouldn't be interested. Still not enough interest in the phone in general. I work for a tech consultant for a few bigger companies and a couple people were thinking of getting Win Mobile 7, until they used it. We haven't had anyone get one yet. And my personal friends all passed and went with the iPhone or droid. Verizon is just starting to get them. Right now, not too big of a market.

Agreed the market is very small currently- but in my opinion, I think it's something that will grow. It hasn't even been out for 6 months yet. But at the end of the day, you're right, the market is quite small currently, ~2% or so of the mobile market? (and even that I find hard to beleive).

You said some people you know were thinking of getting it until they used it... What turned them off about it?

They didn't like the UI mostly. They said "It seems cool at first, but would be annoying in a month or so", which I kind of get. It's not my style either. Not sure what else they had issues with. I think it will grow some, but not as much as it needs to. The main market of windows mobile 6.5 and the new wm7 is really business friendly. It's like they turned their back on the only people who bought their phones to begin with.

Interesting thoughts. Thanks.

I might go ahead and make a app to help memorize those stacks anyway. It'll let me contribute a bit to the magic community and it'll get my feet wet with WM7 coding. Smile

Might as well. You can at least say you have developed apps for more systems than most developers.

Almost 10,000 apps for WP7. That is pretty impressive and I believe a faster growth rate comapared to Android when it was forst launched. I think there are 2 or 3 magic apps for WP7 on their marketplace so far.

thanks. I've started working on the app for the WM7. May release one for android at some point too.

Does anyone have a link to the one that's supposedly out for the iPhone?

Just FYI- development for this app has begun by me. I'll post here as soon as it becomes available.

In the mean time, if you have any good ideas or thoughts of what you would like to see in such an app, please leave a comment with your thoughts here.

There's actually a few good stack testers out for the iPhone:
Mnemonica Trainer
Stacked Deck
iMemorize Cards

There are also a few good customizable flashcard programs out there that can help:
Mental Case Flashcards HD
Flashcards Deluxe
Cramberry ~ flash cards
(There's more, but those are a start.)
