So in the middlish of August we're going on a trip. We plan to drive from Spokane to Minnesota.
We'll be going through maybe Wyoming, South Dakota (hopefully we can avoid North Dakota, because it's North Dakota) and whatever other Northern US States get in the way. Our "Final Destination" is supposed to be the big mall in Minnesota. I'd also like to hit the Buffalo Bill Museum in Wyoming. Any other good places to stop on the way?

They have a lot of potatoes in Idaho, and not much of anything else between Spokane, and Minnesota. I recommend that you keep your ipod fully charged, and be sure to bring along a big bag of snacks.

If you don't have a large selection of music to listen to I would strongly suggest that you take a woman along, so you can at least have someone to talk to on the way (do not bring a man, because they are not as much fun to be alone with, trust me on this one), because you will be traveling through some mighty empty country my friend.

Stanley and Sun Valley, Idaho. Stanley is a small town that sits in a mountain range. Great if your into the outdoors. Spent 4 or 5 days there once. Little Big Horn National park if you're in that area.

If it were me I'd take Gwyd's advice. High also on my list would be Little Big Horn, Deadwood, the Badlands and Wounded Knee.

I forgot about Deadwood (Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand)
Good one.

Oh yeah. Deadwood and Wall Drug sounded awesome. I love Jackalopes. I think we'll be there at the time of the big state fair in whatever state I said that mall was in.
Girl is coming so she might want to do the Rushmore deal. Used to live near Sun Valley.

Are you looking for outdoors? Nature? Historical sites? Cultural activities?

Mostly quick things. Like maybe roadside attractions. Most of our time will be spent at the mall and the fair so just stuff to make the drive back less tedious.
I like the nature but not sure we'll have time to do much naturing.

On your way through Montana, drive on the "Going to the Sun Highway".
If your visas are in order you can cross the border into Waterton National Park in Alberta, as Waterton and Glacier are contiguous. John

Nice. I think I might have to spring for one of those enhanced drivers licenses this year. I would like to go up to Vancouver sometime since I heard there is a weightlifting museum there with a Doug Hepburn display.
