I've been using my four aces pad for a great number of years, I guess 15. The backing has cracked and pieces have started to crumble off. I made my own recently and it looks good and while it is perfect for cards and coins, in cups and balls or chop cup the balls talk too much. Didn't use dense enough foam. Balls just bounce too much.
What would you guys recommend as a good working surface to replace my worn-out 4 aces pad. A friend recommended a pad by Trevor Duffy, any opinions on that? All pointers greatly appreciated.

I am a big fan of Pattrick Przysiecki's mats. Not only does Pattrick cut them to the exact size that you want and add (or not) rounded corners, he will also embroider your name / website etc on them for you.
Both mine had had a LOT of use and they are still perfect. http://www.cupsandballsmagic.com/Pattric......Mat.html Bri |

If you're going to buy, then Pat's Mats is the best beyond a shadow of a doubt. Myself, I make my own & have even sold some to my club members. I use 3/8 plywood for a backing, 1/2" upholstery foam from a local shop, and felt bought from Hobby lobby. I bought a used picture frame at a local yard sale & fitted a top/pad using Vel-tex fabric and use that. I had my 1st pad embroidered with my name on it, but now I simply use a banner I had made by one of our club members who does it professionally and use industrial Velcro to hold it in place on the wood picture frame. The pad/top sits on top of my trey jack stand with the banner attached. It sets up & takes down in seconds & I use it for cards, coins, cups & balls, etc., I love it!

I like the old picture frame idea, Richard - very clever!
I too have Bri's name embroidered on my pad. I saw the photo and figured they just came that way.

That indeed is a clever idea, Richard. Turned out the only magic dealer here (Finland, that is) happened to have large Duffy pads in stock, so I ordered one of those. But I do have to admit Pat's mats (that's a nice brand name right there!) are awfully tempting so I'm likely gonna end up with one of his as well.

Yet....

I'm not a millionaire you know. Maybe we've selected the wrong art...LOL My father-in-law made a much better choice when he founded a construction company. Oh wait, that's not art...crud. But you guys had me convinced, I ordered Pat's mat as well (you can never have too many, can you?)

Also, I once e-mailed Patrick and suggested that he use the name "Pat's Mats" as a Logo or something, but no response. Oh well. Sir Richard.

No wonder she always hated it when I started practicing the cups and balls!

I am afraid she wasn't talking about my cups and balls, more my personal hygiene routine...
Anyway... I like Pattrick's mats!! |

I understood three of those words. Must be a Yorkie thing.
I've gotta see that table of yours before I head back to the states, Bri!
