I read an article about the Supremes went along with allowing protests at funerals of servicemen and I guess others. While I believe cemetaries are private property and vet cemetaries should be able to set standards of behavior I guess they, as well as anyone else, can stand outside and yell and scream all they want, as long as they don't block sidewalks or streets I'm again guessing. I personally am against protesting funerals and cannot imagine a reason or person that would influence me to do so....except for maybe the founder of Westboro 'Baptist' Church who seems to be the power base behind this stupidity.
Here is my question and I am not looking for a religious argument. Why in the heck are they protesting these funerals and have these signs about God Hates the US and loves 9/11 etc? Do they believe that it is punishment for gays existing in the US? Well, in what country do they believe gays don't exist? If it is the anti gay thing, which is stupid enough, how does that relate back to some kid who joined the Marines and was killed in service to his country? Does it just come down to the desire to have press? Do people counter protest their church meetings? The whole thing is dumb to me and I feel terrible for the families who are struggling through a loss to have to deal with these people ranting and waving signs that make no sense near the funeral. Westboro 'Baptist', if you search and find this here is what gets their attention...mass suicide...gets you headlines specially if you dress alike, say, jumpsuits or something. Consider it...really. |

Oh, thank you. I just looked them up in that wikapedia duhicky. Seems they hate: Gays, Jewish people, Catholics, Mormons, Hindus, The Kansas City Chiefs (no kidding), and Muslims. Interestingly they claim to not be racist and also don't mention Satanist other than to claim others are Satanist by being Gay, Jewish, Mormon, a Kansas City Chief, etc.. Velkh a bintl fun idiots

First off those girls look just like the Midwest girl is suppose to look like....raw boned and homely. The thing is they are so dang hateful, and don't hide it by trying to act sweet or anything. The good news is it seems none of them plan on reproducing, which is odd, you would think they would be wanted to spit out 15 kids each. Very cultish. Ol' Fred isn't a friendly guy either. I watched that show and they made no sense at all with what they were about.

They protest the military because it protects a country that allows homosexuals (And Jews and Muslims, etc...)to exist without prosecution.

Just another case of the MEDIA giving a showcase to WACKOS. Like it says, this cult is made up of one family. Promote them and they will proliferate. What I want to know is, what were the eight members of the Supreme Court thinking? Yeah constitutional rights and all that, but demonstrating at military funerals? Guarantee "Cult Dad" never served!

I'm just glad the Supremes did the right thing. Scalia let me down, shoulda been 9-0. Makes my busking argument so much stronger. If those rectal apertures can do that I can certainly put on a show and make people happy.

I think any attempt to truly 's'plain the funeral protesters' will lead to....nowhere, really. Incredibly sad group of people.

They're a joke. They're also against the entire country of Ireland. They will claim to be against anything. If it weren't so cruel it would be laughable.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when 'ol Fred finally dies. I'm sure some other nut job will take the reigns though. I'm all for free speech and I get that it's a difficult debate, but I think you need to earn the right to say what you please. All these people have earned is the right to a life sentence in a nut house somewhere under ground. Lemme know when one of them dies. You can count on me protesting that funeral.

The best theory I've heard to explain them is that Fred Phelps had a dream one night where God appeared and told him the only way he'd ever get into heaven was if he and his family were hated by every. Single. Person. In. The. World.

This shows what a joke the U.S. Supreme court has become. (It's been this way for years by the way) It's too liberal, and they don't have many judges that have any mind power at all.

These are the same dipwads who came to my school last year.
The Patriot Guard Riders usually handle them pretty well. I have a feeling, and I'm not saying I want it to happen, but I have a feeling that some schizophrenic ex-Marine is eventually going to go hunting for them. I know at least one who I think would have done it before he got medicated. This guy tore out a hippie's eye when he got back from 'Nam, just for having long hair. I think it would be bad if somebody did take out the whole group. It would make them martyr's to some. But I do know there are folks out there who might do it. But, personally, I think the Patriot Guard Riders do it best. Create a barrier for the families, but do not engage the ******bags.
