John… Thanks for sharing the video… that was great; I enjoyed your routine so because of the story telling not just the moves. You have a fine routine not just a bunch of moves!
Thanks, Bruce |

Very enjoyable John! I love a good C&B routine but sooooooooo many either have me bored in the first 2 mins or they are beyond predictable. Yours kept me entertained from start to finish! I always love the premise of "The magic shop of my youth" (Fun Shop) and yours is one that I will bookmark and watch again and again!
Thanks, MMc |

I enjoyed this very much. What kind of cups are those, if you don't mind my asking?

There are many things that I love in your routine. Let's start backwards
The time management at the end with the large loads: you don't rush in the effect, gaining splendid time misdirection. This makes a huge difference with other performers also doing classic routines. The hitting of the table with the cups when loading the large loads: Don Alan used to do this and I always thought that it sucked. Actually I had not realized that he was simply doing it to close to the table's edge, and your way of doing it makes a whole world of difference. Your way of doing it calls attention towards the cup as the hand comes out with the large ball palmed. You made me understand what this table hitting can bring to a routine, thank you. Congratulating live magicians like Kent Gun instead of just paying respect only to dead stars. I found this elegant. congratulations. The rythm of the routine is very fluent but not linear. Thoughtful (and could be even developed further in the first half of the routine). Using the combo cup sparingly, resisting the temptation to base the technique on the possibilities that such cups offer. This supplies a surprise. Very important. All in all you supply an original take on a classic routine. Very pleasant and telling something to beginners: there is no need (and little hope) to introduce new techniques. Being personal in the presentation, the rhythm and the obvious pleasure in performing does make it truly personal and thoughtful. Congratulation

Lovely presentation, very enjoyable. congratulation!
-the only thing I do not like (there is not wrong, it's just my taste) is the way you treat the cups, seems like you are afraid to damage them.

John,
I really liked the show... I agree with everything Lawrence O said and would only add that your courage in filming this in one shot does you credit. Did you have any outtakes, or was this take one? I know how nerve wracking this can be without a real audience to bounce off... well done...
