Just wanted to say that after receiving this I quickly ruled it out because something about it did not seem like I could perform it and be convincing. I was not sold on the effect and that would make performing it a bummer. After reading these 17 pages I have recovered from those original thoughts and look forward to playing with it today. I hope to fool my largest critic (wife) with this one later today. Thank you fine folks for offering your ideas and subtleties. It saved this effect for me. Boom-Bam

I like Rattled.
In the beginning, I don't like it because I am not comfortable to use the indian coin till recently I discovered a better coin for use. I lives in Singapore and, unlike in the State, it is difficult for us to find Singapore gaffed coins. Recently, when I went for a trip to Bangkok, I found the one-baht coin serves a better use than the indian coin for the Rattled routine. The old one-baht coin is made of cupronickel and the new one is made of nickel-clad iron. The change takes place in 2009 which is about 3 years ago. Since most Singaporeans travels to and fro Bangkok and Thailand for their vacations more frequently than to India, they are more familiar with the thai baht than the india coin. The excuse makes more sense for the magicians as well. In addition, if you have the old and new coins, you can easily do a switch. I doubt we can do a switch for the indian coin. Since the change from cupronickel into nickel-clad iron happens only 3 years ago, we can still easily find these coins. Hope that this info helps. |

It seems like it shouldn't be that big of a deal. But spectators, and in this case they were all women at my daughter's "Mother/Daughter Tea" were really blown away by this effect. The reactions were bigger than I expected. |

That's the great thing about so much magic. To us, it may not seem like it would get that great a reaction. Often you won't really know how good a reaction it will get until you try it out. Maybe not even then until you improve your presentation! Just try sponge bunnies on some lay people and you'll know what I mean.

Hello,
I just had a quick question in regards to Rattled. I have a steel core US quarter and I wanted to know if that will work for this and fit under the cap or if I should stick with a steel core penny? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Hi just trying to follow up and see if I can use a US quarter or is a US penny more preferred? Thanks again for any help. Basically I have a quarter I used for the Raven and I'm wondering can I use that same quarter with Rattled?

I hadn't pulled out Rattled in a long time, but because of your question I just checked it out.
I have a shimmed quarter that I tried with Rattled. Here's what I found. When the gimmick is "closed" the quarter stays in place nicely. When the gimmick is "open" the quarter won't stay in place, while a penny will. Hope this helps! Sammy

I know you can get 1943 pennies because they have steel in them but does anybody know a good place to find a steel core penny that looks modern? Or should I just stick with my quarter I already have and be happy? |

Is there anything in this thread about a good bottle to use for Rattled? I've tried Aquafina but their caps have changed and I can't get my gimmick to screw on properly

I use the square Fiji water bottles. I would think that any bottle that hasn't gone to the "plastic saving" tiny caps would work. However, I would suggest you get a sixpack of Fiji bottles and hold onto them. Even if you are using this one day when these caps no longer exist, people don't question it as new "fancy" types of water bottles emerge every once in a while.

I've been using Rattled but I have a couple of problems with it after doing it a few times. Can anyone let me know how I can contact Dan Hauss? I don't want to ask it here because it may spoil the method.

Does anyone have a list in the UK of bottles that the cap will fit? I have looked everywhere and I can not find one, bottled water would be the ideal choice for me my students drink water and drink cola so that would be cool.
