It looks like a puzzle where you have to take all the pieces out then have to fit them back in again in a certain order. So you could give to an audience member and of course they probably couldn't do it, then they give it to you and you could instantly solve it. Just a theory of course, my french is a little rusty.

Cheers,
Fred

This is the Winston Freer Tile Puzzle. Look under the Bernard Bilis thread in this section for a further explanation.

Winston Freer's method (which is this product's method) is different from the Bernard Bilis method. Karl Norman and John Rogers make the Freer model, while Francois Denis makes the Bilis model. Each requires a small slight.

You'll find a demonstration of exactly this product here ( the link is provided on the ebay page where it says 'video de demonstration visible ici' ) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlBmvGWb7Bw it is easily understandable even without knowing french just by looking at the video - I'm not even sure if the video is in french since I don't have speakers on this computer. As user mhsam already said this method requires a small sleight. I believe it's a very nice piece.

Enjoy!

Timon.

Thanks for posting that one writeall. I'm not familiar with the workings of other versions, but that one was exceptionally clever I think.

Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki demonstrates a version of the Winston Freer puzzle in a smaller 6" by 9" format. He cut the pieces out of 1/2 inch thick pine following the directions in my "Tile Deal" e-Book from my Mini-Mysteries Section" on my site. You can print out a copy of the puzzle, glue it to the wood with restickable glue, cut it out, remove the paper, paint and voila! Qua-Fiki also cut down a gift box to carry the puzzle in, and he also uses it in performance. Video: http://vimeo.com/35807048
