Eric: having done both effects (and recently did the Redonkulous pre-show with the Scatterbrain ending for 150 people at a convention (they went crazy, by the way)) I totally agree that Scatterbrain is better suited to the outside/impromptu performer. Redonkulous really is for sit-down events with a definite starting time as the preshow should not be done in front of a crowd of people. They are both very similar, and both EXCELLENT reputation-makers.
Everyone should learn both, in my opinion. I just want to thank Eric and Anthony for creating such a cool couple of routines and being generous enough to let us use them. your pal, Lobsta

Michael Chappell has the correct answer TA Waters “billets are psychologically invisible” Michael when you send me your mailing address I will put the DVD in the mail. I read that quote back in 1993 when Mind Myth & Magic was published and started to test the validity of the statement by forcing billet work into interesting scenarios trying REALLY HARD to get the audience to associate the billet with whatever effect I was presenting at the moment. All I can say is Mr. Waters is correct.
Happy Performing Eric Anderson P.S. Billet work solves a lot of problems that impressions devices create. P.P.S. Forgive me if 1993 is the incorrect date for TA Waters wonderful book - Tons of gems inside that Monster. |

Thanks for this Eric.
I am looking forward to seeing Scatterbrain and your lecture on the DVD. Mind Myth and Magic is one of my favorite books , published in 1993. There is a lifetime of mind magic here. Thanks again Eric. Have sent through my address in an email. Chappelly |

Thank you. Eric et al. I will look up scatterbrain. I Like the routine in redonkulous. but I will carry on researching, and maybe put the two together.
Thank you.

Brett, having done the hybrid Redonkulous/Scatterbrain half a dozen times now with great results, I can assure you that you will be satisfied with the idea (and will probably come up with a few ways of your own to do it.)
Enjoy!

"Redonkulous" is pure genius, and I perform it in every show (as my penultimate effect). However, I was never happy with Anthony's solution to having the spectator on stage reading the word off the paper. Without going into the details, there are some real drawbacks to doing it that way. Anyone interested in my own solution to the problem, which I frankly think is better, should PM me. (FYI, it does require wearing a jacket, vest, or blouse.)
