Norton and the studio seem to meet an impasse. Norton apparently likes to be very involved in script rewrites, at least he was during TIH. Considering the scope of The Avengers, and the ensemble cast, I could see how this could become an issue. I will miss him though.
As for films starting with "the" in the title, well, The Incredible Hulk didn't do too bad. Though it grossed nearly identically to its predecessor "Hulk." Then again, The Dark Knight did fantastic.

This is true. I heard the superstition thing in regards to "School of Rock" which had been titled "The School of Rock" until someone pointed out that films beginning with "The" don't do well.

There's a huge list of successful movies beginning with "The". On the "School of Rock" DVD bonus footage they talk about how they discussed it so much they were all sick of the discussion. They already had the opening credits shot, it opens as "The School of Rock" though not billed that way. When the kids show Jack Black their T-shirt concept you can see there's an insert - they show him "School of Rock" and he says "The School of Rock". Yeh, we watch that movie a lot in our house, the kids love it.
A similar superstition on punctuation meant there is no question mark in the title of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". |

I like School of Rock too. I was listening to a lot of Tenacious D when it came out so it was like a cleaner version of the D. D-Light.

I don't think the problems with Dunst were all her fault. The script really did a lot to turn her into a sad, abused 90s stereotype female than the strong, outgoing and willful character we have in the comics. But, well, she did take the role.

One thing can be said about MJ, that whole upside down kiss sure became a cultural phenomenon.
So... Martin Sheen... Does that mean Peter's gonna' be like: "You're all Goblins. I'm not going to pretend I'm not special because I have Spider Blood."

We had to learn that stuff (sewing). Had to in the sense of required during junior high school, where we rotated through our "specials" (wood shop, metal shop, art class, cooking, sewing).
Now, do I remember it? Not really. I don't have the patience for it. Anyway, that costume is awesome. I can't wait for this movie. |

I always find it amazing the things people choose to nit pick. What leaps they are not willing to take vs those they happily take.

That's "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons talking to Stan Lee, creator of Spiderman (and almost everything else that's ever been awesome.)
Comic book guy's character is to be overly critical of everything. I just pictured him watching the Toby Keith Spiderman movies and going: "Worst. Adaptation. Ever." That's his catch-phrase. He always says "Worst. (___). Ever." Thing is, I know a lot of gamers, rennies, and comic book geeks who are exactly like that. Was the image that popped into my head when I read Danny's comment.

Sally Field as Aunt May??? Wow. Aunt May always looked like a 90 year old lady with one foot in the grave.

Maybe they're going to make her up to look older, the suggestion being they don't REALLY want a 90 year old lady with one foot in the grave because she might die on them during production. ("Night Court" had that problem. They'd cast an older woman as baliff and she died after the second season. Then they cast another one to match the first and SHE died too! So they cast a younger comedian and the actress finished out the run of the series.)
