I thought this would be a good topic, who here gives out business cards
In their birthday party magic shows?
If so, maybe attaching a picture of your business card would be cool.

Thanks,
Armando

If I knew how to attach things on the Café I would be glad to show it. its part of my lecture so no issues with others seeing it but I have no clue how to put an image up here

if you can tell me what to do I will gladdly post it!

Two things here:

As an "add on" to my bday parties, the parents can purchase an "official" The Magic of Christopher Lyle Treat Bags for the party. These are the goody bags the children take home with them afterwards. Inside the bag are 4 magic tricks, a magic wand, a mind bender puzzle, a coloring sheet of myself, my business card, a small autographed photo, and a coupon for 10% off a booking.

Each bag fully stocked runs me about $1.00 to make up and I charge the client $5 per goody bag. Figure the average party has about 30+ kids and that adds up. It also keeps the memory of me alive long after I'm gone, gives the child's parents my contact information AND they get a coupon to book me for THEIR child's party or other special event.

However, if the client doesn't have any interest in that, when I arrive I just ask if I can drop a business card into each treat bag. Easy Breezy!

That's not a bad idea in asking the parents if I can drop a business card into each treat bag.

I include my business card in the "Fortune Telling Fish". And I never just give it away, I create value by showing them how cool the trick is, and that my business card also helps keep the fish from getting all wrinkled up so he won't work anymore.

Christopher: that idea rocks. But how do you keep your costs so low?

I've attached a pic of my postcard. I give them out to all the kids at every party. On the back are two more photos (one is placed as a "postage stamp"), and a short message saying that the holder of the card is a member of my pirate crew. There's a space for their name, and I'm often asked to sign the cards.
These are kept for many years by kids, who stick them on their bedroom walls, or on the fridge.

I tried to use the [img] function (see FAQ) to upload the image directly, and also the attachment function, but neither seemed to work. I know it's possible to do, as some folks have included photos in their posts before. Can anyone help?

now if they don't buy the bags I still hand out biz cards to the parents and the post card to the kids.

my info is then out there for every one.

and yes Can any one help with how to attach a picture!?? I assume it as to be RGB and with in certain size but nothing I do works!!!

VERY CHEAP STUFF when you buy in large quanity...

Since I buy everything in bulk, when I make up the bags, It runs me $1 per bag. I charge $5.00 per goody bag so I make a $4 profit. The parties that take advantage of this will usually have between 40 to 50 kids in attendance.

It's a great upsell as Mom doesn't have to waste the gas to go to a party store and buy stuff to put in the bag and I can offer the bags cheaper than what they would pay if they went to a party place and bought stuff themselves.

It takes my wife and I about 10 minutes to make up 50 bags and I make a $200 profit (based on 50 kids).

I know that many of y'all are really in the BOR stuff, but I've never done that, and am not very good at it (I can hear Munton know slapping my wrist with a ruler). But the upsells I offer are very practical and depending on what the client adds, can bring me anywhere from about $150 to $500 for doing very little.

My upsells are:

Balloon Twisting - $50 extra up to 50 kids/$75 extra for 51 to 75 children and $100 for 76 children and beyond.

Magic Themed Goody Bags - $5 per bag

Magic Set $15 - Consists of 10 tricks that are NOT included in the Goody Bag ($10 profit per set)

Deluxe Magic Set $30 (Usually for the Bday Person) - 25 Tricks + DVD ($20 profit per set)

T-Shirt $20 - ($10 profit per shirt)

Upsells are a great way to add revenue to your shows and also a great way to brand your service. The two shirts I sell are different on the front, but on the back they each say "The Magic of Christopher Lyle" and under that they have http://www.lylemagic.com.

The front of one shirt says Got Magic? and the other shirt says Experience the Mystery. A great way to advertise in a stylish way.

The Goody Bags and Magic Sets are labeled with my info on them. The Magic Sets are nothing more than black mailing tubes and I added white paper to each end so they look like magic wands and they're labeled

The Magic of Christopher Lyle
The Official Magic Set
http://www.lylemagic.com

and they have my photo on them.

Just an idea. Feel free to use it if you desire...

Christopher

Just make sure that your image follows the size limitations so that it will be accepted. best bet is to make the image 72 DPI, RGB and a JPG format. It tends to work better.

Here is a postcard I designed a few years back. It was mainly used for my festival and fair shows as a hand out and to also sign autographs.

If you are having problems attaching your card or image here, make sure your height measurement is no more then 300 pixels high. a lot of folks forget about that. you can check this out in most photo editing applications. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the nice comment about my postcard Mando. It's a self-portrait I did shortly after I created Potty the Pirate.
If you don't use "Picasa", I highly recommend it. Picasa is apparently connected with Google, You Tube, etc. I don't quite know exactly how, but I now sign in to all these accounts with the same user name/password.
Using Picasa, I re-sized ALL my images in a few minutes. It was really easy, I just "selected all" and then put the whole lot through re-sizing. Previously I'd re-sized images individually online, and it was a really tortuous process. Not only that, but with Picasa I have on-line photo album facilities. That's how I put the above image of my postcard up here.
