Hi guys,
I would like to perform a routine where a card revelation is done by ignighting a painting canvas and only having the selection appear scorched onto the canvas in a quick and safe way. What would be the best way of handling such an effect? I thought of treating the canvas with a flame retardant except for the scorched areas and applying a fast burning excelerator on the exposed parts. I am new to this type of effect so I am not well versed on the safest and most effective chemicals to use. As well I'd like to produce as little smoke as possible. Any help appreciated. Please PM me. Thanks |

Depending on your aritistic abilities, you can use a combination of different colored FRIXION PENS to create the image of the card. The image of the card would be hidden / disguised in the overall design and made to appear as the inks "burn" away from the background. Safe method and no chemicals to deal with.

Thanks for the idea!
I'm not too familiar with Frixion pens. is the ink in the pens particularly flammable? I'm just trying to get my head around it. Thanks again |

Hey Jc
I've actually produced a picture frame that can burn or smoulder any image. It can also be used as a reveal and leave parts of an image untouched. I've also written scripts for it including one for a card prediction. You could use it so an image of the back-side of a card is shown then burns or smoulders away to leave the given card remaining as part of the burned image of have it as a reveal behind the main picture. Just some ideas, check out The Picture Flame a few threads down from this one |

The Picture Flame looks absolutely Brilliant!
Sadly I need to create the effect for next Tuesday as an Art/Performance piece. Rest assured though, I will be contacting you in the future for a Bespoke frame! Just oustanding. |

Ah, I see your dilemma.
Not sure whats best to recommend. Have you looked at sand frames? Not a route I would go down, but still a possibility. You've just not got much time... And thanks for the kind words |
