Hooray! They’re here! The DVD’s arrived today and they look great. For those of you who appreciate having a nice-looking DVD cover to add to your collection (as well as 2 awesome DVDs to watch!) you’ll want to get The MINOTAUR: Final Issue today. You can see the awesome cover art on my site http://www.danharlanmagic.com . This is The Greatest Magic Instructional Movie Ever Made! Destined to Become a Cult Classic! I’m thrilled with the way these came out and the material on them is solid, fun and diverse. Judging from the previous posts (if you’ve seen the download) I’m sure you’ll agree. Now they’re available on DVD so you can play them wherever you want. Of course there are Chapter markers for each effect and you can select Performance Only or Explanation Only. Also, if you pop the Bonus Disc into your computer, you’ll find a few behind-the-scenes pix of me, artwork for some of the tricks, and a PDF Index to all Issues of The MINOTAUR magazine.
Again, thanks for all the compliments… I’m glad you’re enjoying the movie and finding new effects you can use. After all, that’s exactly what I was hoping for! --Dan Harlan |

I purchased the download version, but I can only download dvd 1, the other link gives an error 500. Also the download speed is incredibly slow. (more than 2 hours for an 800MB file.)
I hope I get the download links sent to my e-mail address, because while I'm writing this post, the site has gone offline. (Internal Server Error)

Got it. About half an hour after my last post, the site was back up again. I also received an email with the download links AND an e-mail from Ted who read my post here on the café.
Excellent service, but I would recommend upgrading to another provider for the website. The download speed (or slowness) was really annoying. From what I've seen so far I think there are at least a couple of useful ideas for me that make this download worth the price of $60.

Thanks a lot I am going to complain to the provider because even though its a big file you shouldn't have to wait a long time for a download. It kinda defeats the purpose of an "instant" download. Let's us know what you think after you have watched the entire download.

I purchased the downloads. I did have a problem but I was sent an email right away explaining that some were having a problem with the downloads. The email provided a link that worked. It did take a long time to download, but still faster than the postal service. (lol)
I have only watched the first one, which seems to end right in the middle of Dan Harlan explaining an effect. Other than that, there is some real great stuff on here worth checking out. Dan Harlan, as always, is entertaining to watch. These are the kind of effects that anyone can use. Being mostly a stage performer I found lots of material that can also be used for stage. Kudo's to Ted(Shawn) for being quick to resolve the download issue's. Now I got to go watch the second download.

The first download indeed stops in the middle of the explanation of an effect (I don't think it was meant to be this way) and in the second file I encountered a problem when trying to skip through the file.
In the first download they also mentioned some artwork which would be included on the dvd. It would be nice to have this available as a download as well. The content of the video's is entertaining and useful. I picked up some effects and ideas that I will be using. But technically the video files aren't as good as they should be.

Hello everyone,
I've watched both discs now and I've had a chance to play around with some of the routines in a working environment and here is my review. This DVD set is excellent and pretty much a steal at $60 for the download. I would say that every working type of magician imaginable out there will find something to add to their working repertoire - there is such a huge variety of tricks, from pick a card type effects, linking necklaces, psychometry and much more. Some of it is impromptu, some of it requires a gimmick to be made or bought but all of it is solid workers material. I had heard before getting this that the DVD had a storyline, the thought of which puzzled me somewhat but to me I found it amusing, broke up the routines slightly and actually made sense with the tricks being presented. I also found it very funny but Dan Harlan cracks me up most of the time. Onto the effects! Fairest of them all - A card is chosen in the fairest manner possible yet the performer can instantly name the thought of card. This can be done impromptu with a borrowed deck, it is quite strong for laypeople but the selection method may confuse drunks and people who are easily distracted. Hebe, Hera, Hecate - A twisting the queens routine with an interesting and involving mystical script, pretty strong and not too hard if you can remember the script, for me it was missing a big kicker finish. Sprites - A simple and well known gimmick is used to present this effect in a humourous and involving way - I have to admit I was smiling throughout the performance - great presentation Adjoctive - Strong and easy mentalism presentation that would adapt very well for corporate work. Aqui - Harlan's creative mind at it's best, a well known gimmick is used to make a key (aqui - spanish pun) disappear and then magically re-appear. Cup-side-down - Blew me away when I watched it, I almost didn't want to know the method because it fooled me so much. A great bar workers trick. One of the best on the set! Holding the Bag - Psychometry Routine that will leave your spectators thoroughly confused. It's presented in a bar envrionment but I think it'd be better suited to the stage. Glass Backwards - A simple gimmick makes this two card prediction from a shuffled deck self working - very clever thinking. Big Easy Linking Rings - Simple and clever linking necklace routine that brings the Linking Ring routine from stage to the bar, I'll definitely be performing this. Royal Plushy - Brilliant, fun performance - I wouldn't present it as it's shown on the DVD but the idea is superb. Folderol and Dagger - Surprising and visual folded card revelation, would be better if the card could be signed - definitely a plot I may work on myself. Counting on you - My favourite card effect on the DVD, definitely an effect that I watched and thought was right up my street. Have been practicing this since I finished watching the DVD. Mexcali Aces - Quick and simple ace production which has the added bonus of hiding the back of one of the aces, would lead into Bizarre Twist perfectly. On your mark - Clever and fun, definitely going to be performing this. Sign Wave + Pen - Harlan's beautiful brain takes a brainwave deck and uses it in a way I don't think anyone ever has before. Lockmaker - If you're buying this DVD go and buy a combination lock NOW, you will be performing this - one of the strongest effects on the set. Money Laundering - Clever presentation of a well known gimmick but not my cup of tea. Beer Money - Perfect application of $*** B*** S***** but without using a T**** T** - fantastic and very well motivated revelation - real workers trick. Bright and Early - Stage/Parlour/Comedy Club trick, not anything like what I'd perform but I enjoyed the performance thoroughly. Vegas, Baby - Self working stage/comedy club trick, great audience involvement but again not what I perform. Popcorn trick - Not clean enough for my liking, one of the weakest effects IMHO. Allied Alliance - Coins across but needs several gimmicks which I don't have and probably won't buy - if you have the gimmicks you'll probably be into your coin magic and will perform this. Coins from Napkin - Clean, clever and Commercial 3 coin production that will lead you into your coin routines perfectly. Brain Probe - Classic Dave Williamson, handling is fairly easy and has an amusing narrative. A gentleman's game - great workers trick with an excellent chance of audience interaction. Speckulation - A perfect and commercial way to hand out your business card. Bent outta shape - three phase key bending routine, very well structured and in the right environment will be killer. Penned in - Quick trick with good spectator participation. Striking Art - Not like any other trick I've seen before, will be testing this soon to check audience reactions. Dan Harlan's collectors - This won't fool many magicians but I guarantee any lay-audience will be floored by this brilliant and well-structured routine. Overall I'd say it's a great and funny DVD with solid material for every type of worker out there. I'd recommend buying this DVD for sure. Congratulations to Dan Harlan, Minotaur Magazine and Anatomy Magic for this superb DVD set. The DVD can be bought here - http://www.anatomymagic.com/product-details.php?productid=3 Any questions about the routines then send them on over to me. Regards, Chris Piercy |

I know a lot has already been said about this awesome new release. I personally have had the honor and pleasure to sit back and watch this whole thing unfold. I have to say, when Dan first started talking about this some years ago I had no clue it would turn out this great. The tricks are great and have real world applications, they are all winners. The movie plot theme to me is the extra toppings. Jen Weston who has been a big part, of the resurrection of the Minotaur did an awesome job, playing the role as the sexy cowgirl and many other appearances in the movie. You don’t see sexy cowgirls much on magic videos but you do in this movie. Awesome job Jen!
Marv Leventhal what can I say the guy is just downright funny, love the tooth pick bit. Would love to see more from Marv in the future. I am a bit biased about my next comments but they are so true. Dan is the best teacher of magic effects I know. This maybe because he has had to teach the likes of myself as my mentor over the years, or he just knows how importation it is to “learn it right the first time”. He has said that to me many many times. I even have it on a piece of paper over my practice area at home. Dan gives you all the need to know to start practicing and performing the tricks right away. My daughter Melissa who is just starting out in magic said, after watching Minotaur. “If you can’t learn from Dan then you should not be doing magic.” Her words not mine!! This two DVD set is outstanding and sure to be a collector’s item someday. If you don’t own the DVD set yet do yourself a favor go to Dan’s web site and order it. By doing so you not only get an awesome DVD set but you also help support the creator of the effect. While you’re there you may find some of Dan’s other offerings to your liking. http://www.danharlanmagic.com The dvd quality is very high and oh so enjoyable, they packed a lot into this and I know for a fact this was a labor of love for Dan, Marv and Jen. Good job guys and gal… Can’t wait to see what’s next. -Floyd
