Just wanna see what's my colleagues' opinions on this.
I use a lot of videos on my site, but should I have them played automatically or not? If I don't, people might not realize it is actually a video, not a picture. If I do, is it annoying? http://www.nashfung.com

I am really against autoplay of anything for a couple reasons:
1. A standard principle of User Interface design is to give as much control as you can to the user of the website. Autoplay takes away an option from the user right off the bat. 2. Especially in a corporate environment, where people work in cubicles not necessarily private offices, autoplay immediately creates an audio signal to everyone around that the person in the next cubicle isn't working on a spreadsheet, reviewing financials, writing a report, or what have you - it's clear they're surfing the net at work. Now, that could well be related to the job, but what you've done is create an unwanted situation the user now has to respond to - this totally inhibits your ability to get your message across. In many cases, people will simply close the browser window and you lost that contact. People are getting pretty comfortable with being able to use a play button on a video embed - hence, let them. Thems my two cents. -Jack
