I got the chance to be one of the few to preview Morgan Strebler’s DVD Shadow this weekend.

This is one of those effects where I sit back grab my head and say “WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT!”
I really do like this effect; let me be truly honest you will slap yourself on the head when you see how this is done. But the first time you try this on someone the reaction on the spectators face will make you really smile.

This is one of those effects that you can do anywhere as long as you can cast a shadow. It’s a simple quick effect that leaves the spectator wondering what he really saw and in the right environment or build up could really freak someone out.

If you don’t know the effect, this is in a nutshell what happens. You ask a few people if they have ever wondered if they could separate themselves from there shadows. Then you show them just that, you have them watch your shadow as you raise your arm to cast a shadow and let the spectator see this, you even ask to borrow their phone as you see the magician raise the hand with the phone you see the shadow of his hand and the phone. Magician drops his hand but the shadow remains in place (VERY ERRIE!!!) then the arm and phone comes back up and the shadow reunites when the magician drops his arm again… That’s it pretty simple but very strong in the right build up.

I really like it; it’s well within the reach of any new to veteran magician. The method is a nice refreshing almost throwback to creating a nice illusion using very old principles.

Now for you Mentalist out there, if you are a fan of Invisibles Touches Morgan has two bonus effects on the DVD. Blow and Stare, these could have been sold separately if you ask me I will definitely be using these in my arsenal…
Over all I was pleased with this DVD I will be using all three effects in the near future. Thanks a lot Morgan for allowing me to preview this.

Thanks for the review, Paisa! The demo looks pretty good, but is there any chance of the spec being able to mess around with his/her own shadow and figuring it out?

Morgan hasn't announced yet.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "
