Hi everyone. I've been asked to work an event at my store that will be mostly for seniors. I wonder if any of you all have worked events like this, and if so what kind of balloons you gave out-if you are willing to give me some advice. I know quite a few models. I just have done events mostly for kids. Any advice you can offer would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hats the wackier the better.
Bracelets for the ladies with the up do. Ed Chee's rose is also a real charmer too.

Thanks Mark. Any feedback from the hats on B2TB 1? I have it and make most of them(never got around to trying the Dragon.) Thanks again for your response. I will really go with the wacky hats and got to get polished on my rose.

Hats good, however don't place one on the head of a lady that has just had her hair done, Having their hair done is expensive and yes even though they are elderly they do care about their appearance.
How do you know if she just had her hair done?... You don't. |

I have worked a few events for the elderly. I worked for a few months as a CNA in a nursing home so I got to know how to handle them. I find that the best option is to have them surround you or for you to be placed in a way where they can see you. I then just begin to make things while engaging all of them. Then when it is eventually finished I ask who wants it. This lets you look at your audience. If you made a hat and only one or two people realized their hands it means that you should avoid making hats and try something else.
The elderly often just want to be entertained. Having something they can take home with them seems to be an extra benefit. I suppose that they are mature enough to understand that the joy comes from the person and not the material you leave them. If you have a good time so will they. Make them feel young but respected. |

I found the best way to work with seniors is to entertain them. Some may want to keep what you just made but most want to see the process of creation. Very different than working for kids. Engage them with conversation, a simple "Hello how are you today?" Will warm them up and get them going. Good luck!
