One white or brown 260 and one 6" pink heart
260 - small bubble, followed by a 3" "bird body" or "roll through" heart - inflate soft and put 2, 1" pinch twists in the neck, attach pinch twists to the 260, under the bird body twist. draw eyes on the bird body and 2 nostrils on the lobes of the heart. Add horns or ears to the small bubble on top of the head (bird body), if desired. |

Wes I think it is great that you know how to make a cow balloon but this does not help people like Mark who is trying to give to the Art with up coming dvds. The best thing you can do is suggest a reference for him to find out how to do this him self. If everyone just exposes the secrets to the art then there would be no reason for Mark or anyone else to put out there dvds.
Jonathan, Not trying to say I don't want to help you it is just there is a lot of great Balloons on Marks dvd. You will make the money back from your investment in just one show. mark Has some great Balloons on there that are easy to make and are requested time and time again from the kids. Do your self a favor and invest the $20.00 in marks dvd. if I am not mistaking he posted on the Café free shipping thru The month of March. if you hurry you can take advantage of the free shipping

Wes: Thank you for the instructions! If I were a beginner, there is no way I'd understand what you typed! So I thank you for taking the time to help me with this ONE balloon - I almost had it on my own!
Bob: It is nice of you to support someone who is out there making excellent DVD's. Mike: I lack only two "most requested" balloons. The T-Rex and Snake. Does your DVD cover the T-Rex and Snake? Oh, I made a small, electric pump to blow up my balloons. I mention this because of The Snake. Does anyone know of a place I can go to learn how to make a a good T-Rex using one or two balloons? I remember searching, but I think I just came to the conclusion that a good T-Rex requires more than two balloons! Is this correct? |

Hi Jonathan,
Bad to the balloon #1 has 12 of the most workable balloon hats: Shark, Dolphin, mermaid, surfer, tiki, duck, gator, one-eyed monster, pirate, tower, swan, dragon. Bad to theBalloon #2 has what your looking for: Monkey in tree, Moose, butterfly, dinosaur (T-Rex) cow, horse, fishing pole, elephant, penguin, flamingo, dog, cat 13 in all just in case you were not counting. My purpose was to make a DVD for the worker, each creation should take less then 3 minutes to make once up to speed. Most creations use 3-4 balloon and no more. I also wanted to make a highly entertaining DVD and not something to bore people to death. I think we accomplished that too. With any commercial endeavor there is risk. My model was to put out a high quality product at a reasonable cost. One of the main reasons I haven't put out another DVD is because of the explosion of sharing on the internet. There is needs to be a balance of teaching and compensation of knowledge. My wife is a teacher... would she teach for free, yes she would , but everyone in this society needs to be compensated for their knowledge and expertise. I think they are fairly priced at $24.99 each If you want them contact me thru my website below. Buying from the artist is the best way to support creativity.

Mark, after I type this post, I'm going to purchase both Bad to the Balloon DVDs. I'm excited because I have a feeling your DVDs are going to be so entertaining that I'll end up learning the rest of animals! To be honest, the dragon and Dolphin are needed too.
But, I would still appreciate it if someone would point me to a DVD explaining the snake. I do know one can be made using a 260 and a 6" heart... Posted: Apr 1, 2011 3:45pm I just bought bad to the balloon 1 & 2....Mark still gave me free shipping even though I missed his "march special"!!! I look forward to watching these DVD's! |

Dear MagicB1S, and the rest of the world.
Balloons are not secrets. Just cuz Mark has stuff on DVD does not mean that explaining how to make a balloon is taboo. I should not speak for the man, but I think Mark would tell you this himself. On the other hand...you are missing out 1,000,000 times if you make balloons and do not own Mark Byrne's DVDs. |

Jonathan,
An easy snake that is good for line work can be found on Ralph Dewey's column on BalloonHQ. Here is the link: http://www.balloonhq.com/column/dewey/jul03/ . |

Let's not get crazy with not letting people show how to make simple balloons. If he was giving something out from someone's DVD, that's different. And besides, Mark's DVDs sell themselves. I own them both and love them along with Don's and Gilbert Adam's. However, Wes telling Johnathan how to make a simple cow was fantastic and I commend him for it. He was looking for help and he got it. Not sure why his kind response and simple instruction had to be turned into an event. After all, this forum is about helping other entertainers. One way is to give them a simple starting point, another is to point them in the direction of getting more out of their art through DVD and book recommendations.
Back to the topic, I actually don't make the cow much, however, I did an event for Gateway Computers and used Mark's and loved it.

Get this - I just got Mark's DVD's in the mail - that was fast delivery! I put Bad to the Balloon #1 on "pause" just the type this, but I'm going back now.
Posted: Apr 4, 2011 2:25pm I had to leave, but just came back while Mark made the "duck" and oh man, that duck is awesome - I've never seen "eyes" like that before. This is really good. Posted: Apr 4, 2011 2:33pm I'm including the duck tonight at my next gig. Posted: Apr 4, 2011 2:34pm The "single balloon" duck I'm been making all this time is now boring. |

Do you really have to go through artificial means to stroke your own ego? If someone needs a design they should be able to have one to benefit us all. OK OK Everyone who reads this needs to buy these Bad to the Balloon DVDs. After my children's magic shows, I have been twisting perfectly fine, single balloon animals....and hats, swords, etc... So learning new balloons isn't a necessity. But... I've always known I should continue improving my balloon twisting.
Mark's DVD's make it easy and entertaining and that's what I need because I won't take the time to learn more balloons. I can just "watch" these DVDs and let these balloons grow on me. However, there are 7 in particular I'm including in my shows immediately. By the way, Mark's animal balloons and hats are better than the ones I've been doing anyway. Anyway...so glad I decided to go on the Café and ask for a cow! Posted: Apr 4, 2011 5:58pm I just read the entire thread and realized my DVD enthusiasm has completely screwed up a perfectly good controversy. Somebody scold Wes again and this time I'll shut up... |

I think the sensitivity and gray areas results from this board being more populated by magicians, as it is of course, the magic Café. In the magic world, technique is secret, and valued as the thing worth paying for, and of course, keeping secret.
With balloons, you do the magic right in front of someone. Of course the typical layperson is not going to be able to watch you make a creation then repeat it because they saw it once. But nonetheless, the mystique is not the same as magic. It is different, and often as enjoyable for the recipient/audience. For peer to peer, the balloon world works very differently. The same folks who make part of their living through instructional material are often the same folks who give away other material free. The tons of youtube videos by many others have also helped people get started. In my own case, I learned a lot from free videos. I've also invested at least $600-800 in DVDs, and attended two major conventions. Let me cite two real world examples of the differences with sharing. At Twist & Shout this year, I attended David Brenion's backpacks class. It was awesome. I bought the DVD right away. I used one of the figures to improve something from my stage show for the next night. If someone asked me to show them how to do it, I wouldn't likely take the time, since it's pretty complicated, and worth the price of the DVD alone. But if a situation presented itself where someone was just trying to avoid buying it, and knew I was in the class, that would not be me sharing, it would be me bootlegging. Last year, I was talking with a Mom and son in the vendor area. They had money to spend but there were so many DVDs, where do you start? I asked if he had a particular DVD, and they hadn't heard of it. I said "let me show you something." I taught him the 2 balloon first figure from the disc and said "if this is something you'd use, then definitely get this DVD." And they did, right then and there. 3 guesses as to what disc I am referring to - and if all 3 are Bad to the Balloon Vol I, you're right! |

Thank you all.
I am humble and appreciative of all the comment. I have also learned to read people's posts twice before responding, sometimes my A.D.D. has me skip some words and think B.A.D.
