Just so you know what authentic traditional Hindu cups look like in Brass:
http://s1093.photobucket.com/albums/i427......nt=K.png These Brass cups were all designed by direct disciples of Prof. Vazhakkunnam Namboothiri in India. Though the brass cups may catch your eye and look pretty they are not the same as using Coconut shell cups. |

Gary, I can't wait to read your writings on what makes an indian cup and indian cup. I hope it is chapter 1 in your upcoming book(s)!

What makes an Indian cup an Indian cup?
There is really no specific way I can explain that to someone without tipping the work. Once you learn all the secrets and understand the dynamics behind some of the basic moves, it will become obvious to you that the cups design and dimensions and even material is extremely relevant. When you are learning the routines in my book and the real work begins to unfold you will clearly see why the cup needs to be designed the way my coconut and brass cups are designed. |

Later I was going to offer 2 more books, each with a more advanced and longer routine. Now I have decided to put everything I have learned all in one book. It will teach you about the cups, how to make your own balls, correct posture, clothing, all about the additional accessories you will be using plus include a step by step explanation of 3 very exciting traditional routines. Most importantly, I also include all the patter in it's original Southern Dravidian language with English translation. There are many stunning moves only used in the Hindu Cups and Balls and nowhere else. There will be extremely detailed explanations of all these moves accompanied with many photos. Be patient. I promise this will be worth waiting for. Regards, Gary |

I am finally getting over a serious illness that slowed me down this year.
I am almost finished writing 'The Traditional Style Hindu Cups and Balls - A Primer". Here is the Introduction: Magicians are, of course, by nature and necessity secretive and private. The ancient tradition of the mantragupta vow preserves and binds the group together. The way a trick works is a commodity, and the more people who know how it is done, the less its cash value. Secrets are the currency of intimacy and equality; secrecy is power, and it binds magicians together to form the confederacy of magic. … Lee Siegel – Net of Magic: Wonders and Deceptions in India The ancient traditional style of performing the Hindu Cups and Balls has been one of the best kept secrets in magic. This is the first time it is being accurately explained in print. For hundreds if not thousands of years the ancient traditional methods used in performing the Hindu Cups and Balls have been taught only through the oral tradition, handed down from mentor to disciple, conserved under a strict vow of secrecy. Because of this stringent adherence to secrecy and the lack of any written records, compounded by the fact that only one man exists today in India that is a master as well as a guru (teacher) of the Hindu Cups and Balls in its traditional form and has absolutely no desire to commercialize it, it has languished in obscurity. It truly has become a dying art. My aim in writing this primer is to teach the basic knowledge needed to perform the Hindu Cups and Balls in its traditional form so as to revive this beautiful ancient magic art form. There are many stunning moves only used in the Hindu Cups and Balls and nowhere else. I have written extremely detailed explanations of all the fundamental moves accompanied by many photos. I will teach you everything you will need to know concerning how to perform the Hindu Cups and Balls, expertly in its traditional form. I explain in great detail how to handle the cups, the balls, the wand, how to sit, what clothing to wear and also the additional accessories you will use. I also instruct you on how to create the perfect ball; this is an art in itself. In addition I have included a beginner’s basic routine containing all the fundamental sleights and all the original patter in its classical Southern Dravidian language, accompanied with pronunciation spelling to make the words easy for you to say. I also include their translation in English so you understand what you are actually saying. Once you master the routine in this book you will possess the skills and tools necessary to be able to learn more advanced traditional moves and routines I will be publishing in the future. It is now going to be your turn to master, guard and conserve this ancient tradition. Remember “the way a trick works is a commodity” so please keep this knowledge as secretive as possible. Most of all have fun. Gary Kosnitzky Las Vegas 2010 Anyone interested in the Hindu Cups and Balls will be fascinated with this book. I hope to have it completed and available as soon as possible. |
