I'm interested in finding versions of the puzzle where a number of flat sections assembled to make a rectangle (usually marked in a number of small squares), can be rearranged to find that one or more of the pieces now doesn't fit. It’s normally made of thin card, but I've seen versions made very ornately in wood - it's one of these I'm trying to get hold of. Sorry I've explained it so badly, but can give further info if anyone thinks they may be able to help.

Wow, that's a real beauty, Sponge. For those that just want to play with the idea, Blue Opal has some nice jigsaws based on the same principle. Take a look through their catalogue for some missing piece / extra piece puzzles.
http://blueopal.com.au Here's another puzzle in 3D. It's made of quality hardwood, but not terribly ornate. Nothing that a bit of stain and a trip to the hardware or craft store wouldn't fix. Brass hinges, corners, and a clasp. Perhaps some work with a soldering iron or a wood burning kit, and you'll have something that they'll swear was handed down to you by Rober Houdin. http://www.allsuperstore.com/spilsbury/3......saw.html Comes in a nice velveteen bag, but it wouldn't take much to put a wood bottom and lid on the frame. |
