Pavel recently passed away, and, as all rope lovers will know, was big on rope effects.

He made me some custom effects for me over the years, some worked, some not.
One that didn't work, was a jumping silk on rope, but in 'double' version, using a green, orange and red silk.each silk taking turns to end in the centre.

As you can imagine too many magnets for a piece of rope!

Join me in a toast to Pavel!! Quality, creativity and nice bloke are words that come to mind (who btw was one of the first lecturers from Europe in the USA in about 1967)

Cheers, at least that makes 2 of us.

I guess most Americans purchased his effects from his distributor in the USA (makes sense) and therefore didn't get to have any contact with him and get to know him.

We observed Pavel's passing on Fen 9, your post is about two months late.

Pavel knew how to use magnets, and snaps to create magic. I have about five Pavel effects in my office.

With telephonic permission from Ian Adair, Pavel made me Adairs Traffic Lights Rope, ala as put out by Robbins. Also a rainbow rope using red, yellow green, which gets swapped with the Traffic Lights Rope.
My favourite 'out the pocket' number!

For clarity sake my little routine goes as follows:

Rainbow ropes, red, yellow, green pieces(?)transform into a single rope. (Red piece is in the middle.)
Single rope is rolled up and placed in jacket pocket.
Small hanky is vanished by TT.
Small silk is now found tied to the centre-piece of the Traffic Light Rope, which is removed (pulled slowly coming out as a long, not rolled up piece)from the (same) pocket (yep, that's the switch! and ditch the TT) The red piece is in the middle. Silk is removed (untied) and tucked back in breast pocket.

You comment on the colours of a traffic light and how these lights are in the incorrect order.

The yellow piece jumps from top to bottom ( sucker play ala jumping silk from Pavel)and ends in the middle - traffic lights restored with red on top, yellow in the centre, green on the bottom.

Pavel was a valued old friend and an extremely creative magician. I join you in the toast.

(In fact the last time we were together in Colon, MI, I bought him a beer. We were 19 days apart in age.)

Barbara, his wife, is indeed continuing his work.
I have just placed an order for a custom replacement rope, and will hopefully be able to report here that the quality is still topnotch.

Pavel...

I had dinner with him a couple of years ago in Colon.

Nice man. Really Good magician!....and THE MAN with the gimmicked rope routines, bar none. I don't think anyone did more, over a longer period of time with gimmicked rope routines than he did. He was a class man and a class act and he will be missed, May He Rest In Peace.

Have just received my rope from Barbara, all good, no complaints.
So hopefully she will continue receiving support from the community.

Several years ago I had to drive him from O'Hare to the Magic Inc. lecture and elsewhere. He was a terrific guy and really made my day. Still have not used all the rope effects I got at the lecture. I believe his wife sewed together all the effects. He is very much missed.
