Joe Porper showed off the prototype of a new finger ring. Working title, "Visible linking finger ring." Every time he showed it there were "WOWS" and questions, "When can I get one?" Paul Gross (hocus-pocus) said, "We want 'em."
The effect inspired by Porper's Ghost Lining ring, from a question from Alan Bursky, and design consulting from your humble correspondent has enabled Porper to craft this ring... You just hold two finger rings -- apart -- and with no moves, no cover just push them together and it looks like one melts into the other and they are linked. Keep watching here for the release date.

This is for close-up, correct? What happens when the spectator inevitably says, "Wow! Let me see those?" when the rings are linked?

You poke 'em in the eye? NOT!
I haven't had the final version to work with yet... but you can't hand 'em most props, you just have to manage he situation and develop a routine and attitude where nobody gets grabby. I never have those kind of problems. Oh, to answer "Close-up, correct? More parlor or stage.

Pete,
How does it compare to Ghostly Ring?- (I have it) - Is it more like version 2 or just something completely different? David

Do you know Porper's Ghost (linking)? Ring (he sells 12-inch and 5-inch versions). It is similar to that but totally different internally. He's going to make the linking rings this way too. Anyway this is like those in that you do not have to open/close the necessary, just push the borrowed ring against it to link visibly.
This (could) be used as an added bit with the Ghostly ring routine. Still waiting for final ones to start working out ideas.

Pete,
I own his Ghost rings - bought them from a member here, and had Joe "refurbish" them (it). I also have the linking finger ring (purchased from Joe not ebay) - and love the replacement ring he sent me. (first one had a rough spot, that prevented me from wearing it) - So to be clear it is a finger ring, but built like his full size ghost ring.. sounds very cool - keep us posted.. It's nice to have 2 methods - to do the same trick - very cool.. David

Joe Porper's new ring sounds nice for parlor. For close-up, check out Roland Hurley's routine, "Ring Opening" (published in Apocalypse, and reprinted in Magic with Finger Rings, by Jerry Mentzer).
You remove a finger ring from each hand and link them in a very direct manner. (They can link in the spectator's hand, if you like.) The linked rings are examinable at the end. Cheers, Jerry |

Is there any reason this ring could not double as a "traditional routine" Himber StaggeRing?
Can't wait to hear the price and release dates. Thanks, Walt |

I spoke to Mr. Porper and he said the ring should be released this or next week and it will cost 350$.
Practicing is like a bank, if you don't put anything in, you won't get anything out!
