With me the audience goes crazy when I turn my back to put it away, and the second pizza is stuck to my back. I usually do a couple double takes to milk it even more. This is a box type trick that really allows you to make it your own.

Does anyone play music in the background when doing the Pizza Box?

The answer to both questions is no. The pizza stuck to my back proves to the audience that the magician is clueless. I do not use music, because the oral presentation of this trick once again proves that the magician is clueless. You may do it in a different kind of character, but that's what works for me.

I'm probably a bit late chiming in on this, but I bought mine near the end of last year, and it has went straight into my show. I always have a lot of fun with this routine and it also blows away the parents! I have been thinking of combining this with another pizza appearance, though I've not yet gotten to that! Just wondering if anyone here does the pizza vanish without reappearing the pizza like I do? Curious as to the thinking behind that! (I love reappearances but duct tape ending on my back isn't good for me..)

I've had mine a while, and it's SO well-made (as are all the products from Dan) that you can't go wrong. Take a hint from me and you don't have to use tape for the extra pizza to appear on your own back. Use superglue to attach a thin, round washer (about 1" in diameter) to the back of the spare pizza. Then buy a "belt magnet", which is a strong magnet with a belt clip attached. Just clip it on your belt in the small of your back. Voila..tape problem solved. I used it with my "Pizza Oven Surprise", my "Snake Can" (both were from Mike Bent) AND with my Wolf's Magic "Run, Wolf, Run". Simplifies things. I just need to find some great music for the routine.

@ Steve, thanks for sharing that! I was at a lost to that, as I did not want to use velcro either. I think I will use that!
Does anyone have any problems with the discolouring on the pizza box though? I have a hunch it might just be the Singapore weather, but my box is turning yellow! |

Also, take a lesson from Al and find a nice case. He used a gun case, I have not yet found one that fits. But I DID have my Pizza Box (I won't call it a Pizza Oven because it does not resemble an oven in the least, nor is it intended to) fall onto the asphalt during load-in. Did you ever see a grown man cry?

Did it break? Where do you find the right size gun cases? I also need one for my pop gun!

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

No it did not break but it was a wake-up call.
Al has a nice case that fits the Pizza Box perfectly ... maybe he will post the brand and style number if we are very very kind to him. |

Search for an item called a "6 pistol case" or a "breakdown shotgun case". I have one for my popgun and another for my Run, Wolf, Run. Need to get another for my Pizza Box, now. Custom cut the foam yourself and it's absolutely perfect.

If I recall the description of the effect, don't you turn the "little pizza" into a "large pizza"...or is that a different effect?

There is an Axtell effect involving a small (supposedly a PERSONAL PAN) pizza that instantly and visibly changes into a giant pizza. I believe it's called "Pizza To Go".

My case is made by PLANO it is 26" by 13" by 5". You usually can find them on ebay, or at a gun supply web site. I believe that I paid $76 for mine.

...OH, I also use one for my "Amazing Balloon/Bug Trick" I got from Billfromoregon here on the Café! Occasionally, you can find cheaper models of the same size case for less than $40 on ebay. One seller sometimes has them for $35, but charges like $40 shipping. It all evens out.

Because I can never seem to trust duct tape to work 100% of the time when I want to make the pizza reappear and not fall off, my preferred method is to use a strong neodymium magnet that I snap onto the back of the lower middle of my undershirt. I learned Sunday, that like medicine, sometimes you can take too much. I was performing in a living room in front of the fire place when I backed up close enough for the magnet to snap to and pick up the fireplace screen behind me. I had to physically pull it off and when I did the magnet was still attached to the screen. I still like the the method of using a magnet but I think I'll be powering down a little bit. Just thought I'd brighten up your day a bit with this one. Happy Monday.
