Not the actual silver content of the gaffs but the prices paid by gaff creators who must buy silver coins at ever increasing costs. They will surely reflect those increases in their gaff prices. So if you get rid of a silver gaff now and then decide to buy one later, you may pay double what your first purchase was; probably even more. I'm already seeing greatly increased prices for gaffs I just purchased last year! Jim |

Quote: I agree with Alan's post on this: as long as the Federal Reserve are going to keep printing money (over $3 Trillion in new currency in the last four years), then gold and silver are going to continue going up. (Not to mention that there's actually less silver on the planet than gold.) I expect that, in three years, people will WISH they could buy silver for $100/ounce.
On 2011-04-27 18:20, Bryce Spears wrote: As such, silver gaffs will continue to get harder and harder to find. Why? Because the coins themselves are sometimes harder to find. Quick story: I was going to buy silver again from APMEX last Friday and kept refreshing my screen to get the best price. I walked away from the computer, never pulled the trigger and -- when I came back -- they were completely sold out of American Silver Eagles....all dates....all grades. I wound up buying Canadian Maple Leafs which are just as good as far as an investment. The next day, I realized that APMEX had Eagles back in stock so I called to change my order. The guy said, "Well, we can't really change your order....we can only cancel it and start a new one. But you've actually made money on your Maple Leafs since yesterday." So, I kept the order. So, there's still a lot of silver out there but it's being scrambled for. The Royal Canadian Mint reported last month that they were having trouble finding enough silver to mint coins. Anyway, the point is this: silver is now in the spotlight as one of the best investments in the world. People are grabbing them up for investing...for hedging against inflation....for asset protection....for passing down to their children.... .....when you consider how small the market is for gaffed coins, there's going to be much lower demand for buying gaffed coin sets when they cost $1,000+. If you've got 'em....keep 'em. Tony |

Wes, folks, if you read the FAQ here and at most online fora you'll find a clear mention that humor is very difficult to get into text.
Never mind that most of us aren't funny. So, any thoughts on who to ask for a good foil press to make stacks and singles for those wild and crazy tricks?

I started magic a few days ago and remember contacting Xavier Blemont to ask for the price of his silver gaffs. I foung them too expensive for an immediate puchase and waited to be sure I was going to continue coin magic. I finally bought his set this year twice the price he proposed then, and I do not regret it AT ALL. I'm still too inexperienced to use all of this gaffs efficiently but will keep them like a treasure...

By the way, gold and silver are both down today, supposedly in response to bin Laden's death.
At any rate, if you're looking for a good price on smooth-looking Morgan Dollars, check out APMEX.com. Here's a direct link: http://www.apmex.com/Product/55070/1878_......ood.aspx Tony |

So, I guess the 64,000 dollar question or statement actually, is I cannot expect anyone to make a morgan dollar shell with one of those "metal" asian coins?

There's plenty of things in our history that we've left behind.
And some that perhaps we would do well to leave behind. If old coins work for your performing character - great. And if you can use foil to make what you need - that might be an option.

Some relief may be in sight for our gaff makers (and us):
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB20001424......280.html Apparently, one major buyer of gold and silver (George Sorros) has begun to sell. Regards, Alan |
