Is it just me, or did silver drop to like $34 yesterday/today?

There will always be silver gaffs made. Though, there are only so many "nice" silver coins to work with after all..supply isn't infinite. You might have to settle for slicks in the future.

I think the over-inflated prices of oil, gold and silver are about to correct themselves. (Sorta like the housing market corrected itself a few years ago).

I've discovered some people like to take things a tad too literally around here...just wanted to clear that up. I do NOT intend to sell a Morgan dollar in order to buy a yacht. I'm doing it to buy a Porsche.

Here is my take on that: One may be destroyed to make the gaff part but, even in some small way, at least one other whole coin if not more, is preserved. For example: A s***l set destroys one coin, but it has four perfectly preserved coins to go with it. If I buy silver coins, it is never about the intent of investment. It is because they are historic, significant and beautiful works of art. That is something worth keeping in a family. Technically, destruction of any currency is illegal, except where the sole intent is for entertainment. Personally, for every gaff I own, I own another whole set of un-gaffed coins of the same type and then some. Not just to be able to say I have them, but also as part of doing a good turn for history. It also allows me to be able to share their history with the audience, especially the young ones, and let them handle the coins. That is what I call the tangible history lesson. I can use them without having to rely on gaffs. Sammy, you bring up a really good topic here, with a very valid point. Just my two cents. |
