Hi everybody,
I recently bought a new wireless system: AKG WMS 45 Perception Wireless Sports Headset (http://www.zzounds.com/item--AKGWMS45SSET). I think that there is a problem with my bodypack but I don't know what... The problem is that there are some some strange noises every time I am more than 8-10 feet away from the receiver. When I move with my body the signal makes sand noises. Like SSSHHH.... Some times I also hear a POP noise. It's like the antenna or the bodypack is absorbing the noise of the body movements. Is this possible? I tried to change frequency but I always have the same problem. Moreover when I put my hand on the bodypack the sound turns really bad, like if there was static electricity going from my body into the the bodypack. Is this possible? I don't know what to do... do you have any suggestion? May the bodypack be broken? Thank you very much for your support! Federico |

I tcould be a short in the wiring of the mic or the antenna. It doesn't sound to me like feedback issues, that would be more of a whine or screech.
I would contact the folks you bought it from to see if they have any troubleshooting ideas.

Get it back to where you bought it before any more time elapses.

Just to eliminate the obvious, have you changed the batteries in the body pack?

Also make sure the battery is snug in the compartment. Some Brands of Batteries are a bit smaller than others which leaves room for movement in the battery compartment. Mine would pop, and crackle when I moved. The sound tech had me take a bit of cardboard or paper from the battery package and wedged it in place and no more worries after that. Trial and error on all these post, and you just may get it fixed, wish you the best.

Hi guys,
thank you for your answers. Battery is not a problem. I have tried many new one. They seat perfectly in the compartement. It really looks like the antenna has some kinda of problem... it is very strange that when I place my hand on the transmitter the signal is like BBZZZZZZZZZ... It's like static electricy or something like that. I really have NO idea. I'm going to go to the store as soon as possible but it is not near to my house unfortunately. What distance does a receiver pick up the signal of a transmitter usually (in one room)? 8 feet seems to be nothing.... Thanks, Federico |

Most wireless mics can go WAY more than 8 feet!

Has it gotten wet with sweat or any other liquids?

Chance... this is a good question, I had forgotten about this scenario. I do lots of outside shows each year at fairs and festivals from June thru late October, Lots of sweating going on, I to have had that situation of popping and cracking and humming, Learned to place the Headset in front of small fan to help dry it out in between shows. I had totally forgotten about this sort if issue and fix, A great call on this one. Federico, I sure hope that somewhere in here is a fix for you, Be sure to post what soves your issue,,, Thanks.,

I've seen this problem many times with SHURE in ear monitor systems and its generally a bad antenna that would cause the noises you described...if the antenna is interchangeable I would try a different one if not I would take it back to where you purchased it.
