Hello. This is my first post in this entire forum! Excited to be on the Café. I thought of posting here since I'm very interested in Coin magic. I'm familiar with Jamie schoolcraft and his work and before I place an order, I'd like to know if there are any coin dvds that cover the use of Shells and Slippery Sams. Are there any which might give a good understanding to any novice coin worker before he places his order?

I really like Dean Dill's DVD's. He does a lot work with sh***s. Each routine is beautiful IMO.

I second the suggestion to consider the work of Dean Dill. His Extreme Dean DVDs are clearly explained and very effective. However, they may not contain enough effects using the gaffs you mentioned to meet your needs. Good luck.

Hello David. Thanks for replying. Forgive me if I'm asking openly, what's the difference between a locking and a non locking slippery Sam? I have a digital dissolve/ Steve dushek's c/s transpo. And I trust what I have is a non locking slippery Sam.
I understand that shell coins are used mainly in matrix routines. And I have a three fly routine that I perform with the shell coin thank you for your patience guys. |

IMO sh**ls are not mainly used in matrix routines. There are dozens of matrix routines with sh**ls, but there are even more routines which are different from the matrix plot. For every ungimmicked coin routine out there is also a version with a sh**l. Coins across, wild coin, production of coins and vanish and hundreds more.

The Locking Half shell AkA U.3 F. It locks in place so it's easy to handle! And you can unlock it any time you like! Todd Lassen Makes a great one! My book on it is called " Fight plans"

The Tangopedia shows routines with pretty much every product in the Tango line; for a beginner who may be unfamiliar with practically everything -), it gives a nice overview of what sort of gaffs there are at the basic level. If you look at his web page: http://www.tangomagic.com/home.php?cat=367 under "Dollar Coins Tricks", you get a fairly good idea of the routines illustrated on the DVD. Some of the production aspects of the DVD (sound, mostly) are occasionally poor, but given that it comes 'free' with each Tango item, I think we can cut him some slack. -) I'm not meaning to pull this discussion away from the excellent work of Mr. Schoolcraft and Mr. Lassen. When I was at Magic-Con, I was asking Mr. Schoolcraft about any DVDs that, sort of, cover the gamut of basic coin gaffs, so a beginner can learn what's what, and a spectator suggested the "Tangopedia". I got a nice Walking Liberty Tango ], so I got a chance to go through the accompanying DVD. In addition, I found Ben Salinas's Modern Coin Magic DVD series to provide some good info on some basic gaffs when he's going through the chapters in Bobo on 'Trick Coin Trickery', etc. Hope this helps! In addition to those fine ones already mentioned, there are loads of other DVDs, including more World's Greatest Magic, for example "Coin Gaffs", Stack of Quarters, Copper/Silver/Brass (2 Copper/1 Silver), some David Roth DVDs, the excellent NY Coin Magic Seminar Series (Vols. 2, 3, 4 on Copper/Silver, I think, for example). Also, Attack of the Copper/Silver coin (Forrest and Francis). The Craig Petty DVDs of Flip It, and Split Coin are good. Also, I believe, but never read, there was a series in a British magazine (Magicseen?) on coin gaffs written by Craig Petty last year.

I would also suggest Troy Hooser's Total destruction vol.1-2-3.
It has also some card routines but in most of the coin routines Troy uses gaffs.
