Hello
some question for the guys who have done ship work. How do you handle your Back Of Room sales? I know some ships will only let you sell in their gift shop (ship takes a cut of profit) since a ship is a "cashless" society if you were able to set up a BOR stand at the back of the theater- how are people paying you? As the times I have done ships- nobody has cash on them- all is charged on their room card. |

I can't remember the name of the company...but there is a product that allows you to swipe a credit card on your cell phone. You might want to check into it.

Squareup.
Note that you will have spotty cell service at sea.

Yep, squareup only works if you have great cell service, and I've never tried it on a trip, it has to log the coordinates where the transaction took place, so I'm not sure how that would work.
I've never sold tricks on a ship before, but I did go on a cruise where the magician and comedian sold things. There were plenty of people with cash, and I saw him taking cards, but I don't know how he was processing it. Best Wishes! |

Passengers use their ship card (like a credit card) for all purchases onboard. At the end of each cruise you'd pick up your cut of sales. some lines (NCL) don't take a cut. I work for RCI and they take 30%

Hi
yes, I was wondering if they could still use the ship cards- and you get the money later. |

Some lines also only allow certain items.
e.g P& O Australia only allow CD's & DVD's and have a set pricing / commission structure. Items also have to be pre approved. |

Mr. Hyde thanks for that
I have heard that P&O only allows cd/dvds but it's good to know |

RCI doesn't allow books.

What about magic kits, tricks, and stuffed toys?

OK as far as I know. DVDs seem to be the best sellers.
