Guys, I am far far below 99% of you in terms of skill and dedication. I have done coin stuff for the last 10 years as a hobbie and for finger dexterity and strength as I was deployed all over the world.
I have discovered the sudden reality of being back in America, looking for work, and having tons of free time. The only stuff I have been exposed to was "BoBos coin magic" (If you guys have heard of it, its a rather old book, but with a lot of stuff), and Marion "smooth" Boykin effects I have purchased. I have his stuff down (I think) as I have practiced them literally 20-30k times (in each hand). I think I have the basics of BoBos book. My question is this - For a noob, where do I go next? Im looking for a dvd that will take me to the next level. I do not have all the bobo basics, SO I will need a beginner-intermediate dvd, I think. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I will never be a professional magician like you guys, but I do honor the art and try my best. Brian |

Hi, Brian.. good to hear you practiced those stuff over and over...
If you're asking about where to go next there are so many options. if you wanna go slow, you can take a look at David Roth's material Expert coin magic vol 1 and 2. it pretty much teaches you basic like in bobo and more. If you're willing to take challenge then there are 16 volumes of New York Seminar Coin magic. each of volume teaches you different stuff... some of them (pack of 2 or 3) will teach you the same topic like "Coin accross", "Copper/Silver" and so on. Other individual material like Dan Watkins-Coin Man Walking, Doug Brewer's material, Kris Korn's, Garreth Thomas' are worth to take a look. Hope this help Cheers Andre

If you haven't already found it, here is a very complete discussion: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=3&177 Bobo's is not perfect, and many great coin manipulators on this site have expressed a preference for Henry Hay's Amateur Magician's Handbook for basic coin work, however Bobo's has become the most referred to basic source for coin manipulations. You should know that there are two versions. The cheaper version is Modern Coin Magic, which was never copyrighted. The (slightly) more expensive version is the New Modern Coin Magic, a hardback book, which includes all of the material in the first and quite a lot of additional material (particularly gaff coin magic) and is well worth the additional $10. (By the way, you can usually get a used copy on Amazon for around $20). You will find more than enough advice in the above thread to keep you busy for years. If you have already found MB you are way ahead of the game as it is a great advantage to learn the slights backwards and forwards before you turn to gaffs. Thank you for your service! Regards, Alan |

If you are looking for coin related magic all of the suggestions above are great. I would also recommend looking at the material put together by Eric Jones. He has a very good general DVD called Metal as well as some other fantastic instructional DVDs. Good luck.
