Yikes!!!!! I'm booked there. Mark, plan on my being there. I will register within days. Jimmy was my inspiration into vent work on the Texaco All Stars show. Had a wonderful time last year and looking forward to seeing all my associates again and meeting many others.

Look people, they wouldn't keep having the convention there if it was that bad. This is 35 years!

I have never had any problem with the hotel. As for cost, the Super 8 may be cheaper but the Drawbridge really go out of their way for us and I think the least we should do is return the business.

I have read these negative reviews too, and a lot of those are from people who got dumped by Delta airlines and were mad already. You could have put them in Buckingham Palace and drawn a bad review.

The review Dan referred to was about the Super 8, not the Drawbridge.

As for staying at the Drawbridge to return the business, I'm sure everyone would like to stay right there where the convention is actually being held, and it is a nice place, but for many, it may be a matter of cutting every possible cost in order to attend.
Would you say that if they can't afford to stay at the Drawbridge to "return the business", they shouldn't attend the convention?

Sorry if I misread what Dan wrote.

I would never say someone shouldn't come but let me ask this...

Would you save enough to really make a difference? My experience is that I learn as much ion places like the hospitality room or over dinner with old and new friends as I do in the convention itself.

I like to be in the middle of the action.

Yeah, I'm coming... From one of the furthest part of the Earth! 22 hours flight! And you're right Bob, first-timers like me will be really excited. I believe that it will be a really fulfilling trip for me.

I don't care about bed bugs, I just coat my puppet with chocolate and let it be a decoy by lying it beside me when I sleep. Smile

P.S. Wanlu, if you managed to get your visa, try United Airlines, perhaps we get to meet each other in the airport before the long, daunting flight over the pacific!

It's been a number of years since I attended, but as I recall, the difference was pretty significant.
And how is staying across the street going to keep anyone from the hospitality room, or from enjoying dinner with anyone, it's a walk across the street, how much is anyone going to miss in the two minutes it takes to make the crossing.
Probably the only time it'd be a bother is for those who maybe have to have a figure on their arm every second of the convention, but that's a whole other topic.....
I'm not saying anyone shouldn't stay at the Drawbridge, if you've got the budget, great - but by the same token, I don't think anyone should be bothered about someone staying across the street because their budget is a little tighter and they need to shave expenses where they can.

Hi all...

I'm in almost constant contact with the Drawbridge Hotel and I don't know of any bug problems. I will double check, but to my knowledge there is no problem. I also encourage all that can stay at the Drawbridge to do so. What we pay (if anything..) for our meeting rooms is determined by the number of sleeping rooms we can book. The more who stay at the Drawbridge, the lower our rates (to almost nothing..) to have these rooms.
See you all in about two weeks!

For the price of the convention, you get a real bargain. You get to meet the pros, the stars, see great shows, learn how to improve your act and delve deep into the art, surrounded by peers. Mark and the entire staff work very hard to make it the time of your life. Running a convention isn't cheap. Those couple of extra dollars to stay at the Drawbridge help keep the costs down. If you are on a budget, consider splitting a room with someone else. Staying at the Drawbridge definitely helps - as Mark said.

See you there! (And don't forget to see Steve at JET PUPPETS for your Magic Café Button!)

Mark - Dan was not referring to the Drawbridge when he mentioned the bug problem, he was referring to the Super 8.

Opps..! Sorry guys! I wasn't standing up for the Drawbridge, just letting you all know I check these things. Usually people ask me about the Drawbridge when it comes to rooms and I mistakenly thought that's what you are referring to. I really have no idea about the Super 8. Wish I could help some more with this!

Wanlu,
You need to show them this forum message board, and how many people want to meet you.

The man asked if I own my house...I said yes...then he asked, did you bring a copy of the title? I said no...

...then he said I'm afraid I can't grant you a Visa this time.

He did not even asked for the letters from Venthaven Smile

Hope to catch y'all next year!

Godspeed!
