I am one of the lucky few. I expect they didn't have enough stock for the lower price, once word spread throughout the Café and members started placing orders. My set is perfect. One of each gaff, one each regular coins, nice little coin purse, and the DVD. This set is everything I expected - no let downs at all. All the hype and good reviews I've read are spot on.

My order was canceled. IMO since the set is still listed for sale, but at normal price of $123.00US, it is because
MH did not expect to lose so much $$$ wjth this sale so they canceled everyone's orders. Sucks because there is nothing wrong with the sets as evidenced by kcquinn receiving a perfect set. Then to IMO lie by saying all the sets are bad...IDK? |

Hi
Cartel Coins could have been a loss leader strategy. Since I only purchased the Cartel Coin set, my order was canceled. An online site seams like a safer way to use this marketing trick. You can always say that your all sold out if it backfires.

If that's what they're doing (and I'm not saying it is), then it's less a "marketing trick", and more like fraudulent advertising unless they say something like "only 10 at this price", "while stock lasts", etc.
If they accept the order they should honor the price. Quote:

Coin gaffs are my love...other than my wife of course... in fact I just used a large chunk of my college refund to pay for a massive custom order of gaffs! I love what they can do when used correctly!

I too have had the same obsession for buying coin gaffs AND also coin boxes for many years. There are enough of us suffering from this, that maybe its time for the medical profession to create a term for it - other than madness!
However, I am pleased to say that I have since been cured. In June of this year, and after accepting I needed to downsize (in other words sell a room full of stuff that I was never going to ever use or read!) I sold more or less my entire 35 year collection of props, books, etc. to a second hand magic dealer in York, England. I have since received some excellent advice from another magic dealer in Argentina; advice that I even doubt any good 'shrink' could provide to overcome this (often costly) problem. I would like to thank Marcelo Insua (Mr Tango) for producing the Tango Ultimate Coin (TUC) and the Kartis Coin Box and recommending their purchase. These two props alone enable me to do almost everything of what I'd done previously with drawers full of gaffs and coin boxes. This isn't a shameless plug for two Tango items - just an honest assessment of how I now approach magic. No longer do I look for everything and anything new to add to my 'never gonna use it' collection. I've just narrowed things down to two products that I truly believe are the holy grail of coin magic. I am now gratefully in a position to use as little as possible, to do even more. ![]()

I like gaffs too they just reduce the need for complex sleights, though of course the basics are necessary even when using gaffs. I particularly like the Kreis Magnetic Kennedy Halves, they're awesome for coins across type of effects among other ideas. Truthfully I am still doing the very 1st coin trick I bought Sterling Magic Two Coin Trick (aka Hopping Halves) and I still get good reactions to it. Often it's a story or presentation that makes even simple magic look very, very good.
