A Living/Dead Test w/ a message from the great beyond at the end could eat up 10 minutes if you play it right.

Just 10 minutes?
Something dangerous while blindfolded has worked well for me... And add Ghost Vision by Andrew Mayne at the end just to say ghosts helped you.

I think the real question, W.D., is what will YOU do?
I don't know the persona you present, so any specific thing I suggest might be completely antithetical to what you should be doing. Were I in your place, I would select one or two of my most jaw dropping effects--not necessarily the best, but the most shocking--and present them with an "I'm sorry but I only have a short amount of time..." approach, perhaps implying that they should bring you back for more. For me, the key to bizarre is not the trick you do, but the entertainment value you give to it: the story, the props, etc. KK has an effect, Time Machine, that is about 95% story. It includes the use of a special coin that I literally had Johnson products custom make for me. KK shows how he uses a small envelope which I'm replacing with an expensive (well, compared to a paper envelope) wallet that will also allow me to hand out business cards. But the key thing is the story, which I've embellished with dates, added information, and a lot of research combined with the use of NLP-based VAK imagery (NLPers will know what I mean). It will take the audience and one participant along on a story to meet H.G. Wells and be totally shocked at the appearance of a coin from over a century ago. |

How about a card trick using swallowed razor blades and a mouth of blood? That played well for me. Also the voodoo egg cleaning ritual played well too. there are a lot of effects that can be combined with a story to work this time frame. Should be fun because you're not under pressure to entertain for a long period of time. Just make sure what you choose to do is fool proof or that you have an out in case something goes wrong.
