Beano is a French (I think) guy who does a straight jacket escape.

Interesting. I didn't know there was a "Magician's Corner" there. Is it given this name only at certain times/dates?

I think 'Magic Corner' got it's name as it's the place magicians have usually worked for such a loooong time. It's a moniker that has come about from those who have worked it over the years.
It's not a name on any map, or given it by the council, just those that have gone before. Ah the memories James |
