I think it's best if I give the context behind this question, so bear with me please
A while ago, there was a small friendly casino type thing run by some students on campus that didn't involve money. However, it occured to me that the dealers were all hindu shuffles (Common in my country) and obviously did not know some standard procedure in poker (Cut before deal, first burn card.) Ever so politely, I tried to advise the student (dealer) to try riffle shuffling cards to make the shuffle more thorough, upon which I was told snappily that he would know better. This irritated me and suddenly I had the urge to use this to advantage.. So what I'm really asking for is for any literature or your own ideas that I can read/have that might be useful to understanding how these kinds of situations are taken advantage of? Shuffle tracking is the only thing that came to mind, although I still don't have a very concrete idea on how it is done or how one gets better at it. I know this seems very spiteful of me, but meh... a good opportunity to learn a new technique or two I thought. |

Casino Game Protection by Steve Forte has a great section on shuffle tracking. Otherwise, track down the Shuffle Tracker's Cookbook by Arnold Snyder.

Hindu shuffles?
Just run away. It's too easy to cheat using such a method. Besides, it's a very very poor shuffle. Don't play a quarter in a game where the Hindu shuffle is used. I've played with Koreans, Indonesians, etc. Of course, many of them just knew the Hindu shuffle. They've been told to use another method (at least a basic riffle) and all have been able to do it after a few minutes (like anybody else). With Hindu shuffle it's piece of cake to retain cards on top or at the bottom of the deck. Killing cards is child's play. |

Just get an identical Ace of spades and toss it into the discard bin with the rest of your cards. Ideally for draw poker. Ask for a card count, than accuse them of cheating and storm out. If its a friendly game, than don't worry about getting beat up or anything. But don't think that if you get caught in the adding the palmed card to the deck you wont get beat up. Not matter what the size of the game is everyone hates a cheater.

Also, bring a raccoon and place it in the bathroom, it makes good shade for cold decking and passes.
