For the fun of it I'm going to get my certification to work in a mine. I'm scared of mines by the way, Princess Di was against 'em as well.

Perhaps a place to start:
‘Coober Pedy’ was originally known as the ‘Stuart Range Opal Field’, named after John McDouall Stuart, who in 1858 was the first European explorer in the area. Then in 1920 it was re-named to ‘Coober Pedy’, based on the Aboriginal words of ‘kupa piti’, which is translated as meaning ‘white man in a hole’. Jim
Also known, when doing rope magic, as "Cordini"

I hear working in a mine can be pretty boring work. Ha! get it?

It's honorable and necessary work, though dirty and dangerous. Sometimes it is quite lucrative, too. If you have a stake in the mine, of course, but unless memory fails the uranium miners in Grants, New Mexico, did very well - until the uranium boom collapsed, of course. And you never know when mine certification might not prove useful. Good luck, Santa!

What sort of mine?
Coal? Silver? Gold? Asbestos? Or is it all the same, so far as certification goes?

Silver and gold. They started open mines about half way toward Reno and up in Virginia City. They plan on going underground in a few years. In Nevada you need a certification for any job and I am more looking at above ground work.

The distinction between capital and labor is not essential. There are more than a few employee-owned firms. Since we were talking about Paul Revere in the other thread, I might mention that the Revere Copper Company, which he founded in 1801, is one of them.

Now, now Magic Santa the first rule when trying to get out of a hole is to stop digging.
