You can do many manipulations if you combine pen with other props like coins (see Amar or williamson).
In such a routine you can make the pen reapaer by spell bound, for exemple : _ the coin apear (from caps...) _you put the pen in your pocket with your right hand _you take the coin in your left hand (spell bound position) _your right hand with pen concealed in come in front of the left hand. _now you know what you have to do... |

Check out "The Prismatic Pencil" in Martin Lewis` 1999-2000 lecture notes. It`s a clever color changing pencil(not mechanical pencil though, but the method could possibly be applied to mechanical pencils as well).

There is an effect with with color changing Sharpe pens. Not sure where I read it, maybe in Apocalypse?

John Rogers at Woodencigars.com makes a sweet color changing pencil. They are not real pencils (but look real much like his cigars) and fool the eye even close-up.
You can see them and a video of them in action at: http://www.woodencigars.com/mpencils.html
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!

There was a Sharpie Manual put out some time ago by Jesse Feinberg but I never bought it. I heard there are some pretty cool things to do with Sharpies in there, including mini Sharpies. I know Hank Lee and Daytona Magic still carry it. If you Google Sharpie Manual + Jess Feinberg or look that up on Youtube, you will find plenty of demo videos for it. You can even get some good ideas just by watching the demos and figure out things to do and how to do them.
@Harry Murphy: That is a really cool set of pencils! I like some of the other things he has on that site too. Thanks for the link! |

Flip has a terrific impromptu color changing pens routine. It's on his Flipstick and More DVD from L & L. It's easy to learn, but I don't know if you can get the material in a week.
