I am known around school as the magic boy and as school approaches (less than a week for me) I wanted to come up with a routine with regular mechanical lead pencils. I want something like color changing pens or maybe even some manipulation. And I wanted to ask if anyone had any idea of how I could make this happen. If you have any suggestions just pm me. Thanks in advance.

Well I actually have experimented with pens and pencils in a manipulative fashion. The first thing you can work on is using flip stick style moves with pens and pencils. It works on the same principle, only you have to modify the moves a little bit.
You can also use some candle style moves with pencils as well if you incoprate a silk or a napkin along with it. If you paint one side of a pencil a certain color, then you can do some nice color changes and also do some nice paddle style moves as well. I have other ideas but do not want to go into too much detail here. If your interested in other ideas, please just PM me.

The old pencil in ballon colour change is good. Works a treat.

Maylor:
That is also good. Just get some pens and pencils and really start jamming. I end up with some great moves with what I call happy accidents during a jam session.

I experience these happy accidents all the time in school (that sounds bad I know) but just experimenting with the contents of your pencilcase can result in some cool tricks.

Why just mechanical pencils? Try Mark Jenest No. 2 Pencil trick where the printed No.2 symbol jumps all over the place. Or try Gregory Wilson's Cap and Recap from his first Off the Cuff video done with a Bic pen and its cap. Awesome stuff all with that impromtu feel. If you have to use a mechanical pencil, believe it or not, the "rubber pencil" optical illusion actually does fool a segment of the population. Also, the shrinking pencil is also good. It's another optical illusion where, at eye level, you cover half the pencil with one hand, then tranfer it to the other hand with that hand covering the other half. Do this back and forth with some speed and you've got a shrinking pencil. Try it in front of a mirror. Good luck.

Speaking about the rubber pencil "move"—I actually purchased a "rubber No. 2 pencil" from a novelty store and I just use that for this quickie illusion. Which means the pencil actually turns to rubber after the "move"!!

Very nice, I'm sure magic shops will carry these pencils, I'll do some research.

Have you thought about using crayons? Their size means a lot of the cigarette moves can be done with them.

Using a regular pencil...if you observe someone breaking their lead, offer to sharpen it. Then do so in your "empty" hand.
