I don’t know what happened, I must have sneezed at the wrong time, I watched the whole AGT show last night and did not see any Vents, I saw a magician that did a great act, but no John.
Did I miss him, or was he cut from the west coast feed? |

He didn't seem to be here, either. Don't think they showed him.

They did a montage segment and immediately after they showed the mimes, they cut to John wiggling the dog's paws, putting the dog jaw mask on the MC and then saying "You're the first Human Dummy Dog, how you feeling?" a response about marking his territory - and the judges laughing. It was a pretty short spot. The episode was #136. He was shown right before Snap - the dancer who made it through.
The episode played 10 minutes late here do to Obama's speech. If they cut it where you are, it was probably because of that. Tom |

Tom,
According to John, (several weeks ago) he did make it to Vegas. I know in years past that there have been acts that showed up in Vegas that I never saw in the audition shows. However, John was voted through, and then a couple of weeks after the actual audition they notified him that he had been cut. He was told that he still had a chance to make it back as a "wild card". If you were watching the segment last night, shortly after Johns short clip they broke away to do the "Redenbacher - Acts that Pop" and they again showed a short clip of John. The only acts that they show on the "Acts that Pop" segment are acts that made it through. On the chance that John gets called back as a wild card, we are currently working on several other "things" that I am not at liberty to discuss or John might hurt me. - lol That's all I know at this time. Steve;
Now I am really confused, last night’s first run show was auditions in New York, not Las Vegas; how would John perform in a New York segment if you’re saying he auditioned in Las Vegas? Also hundreds of acts show up for the auditions, out of the hundreds of acts auditioning for production staff members during the day, only a few are escalated to appear on the show to audition on stage; then the most entertaining of the few are edited into a broadcast. That’s the way they did it when I was in Hollywood Buzz |

Steve,
I mentioned I assumed since they didn't show the vote. I've been wrong a lot of times. Being a wildcard just goes to show exactly how these "reality" contests work. Same thing happened to Taylor Mason on LCS years ago. I remember last year, several acts made it to Vegas that were never shown again. Its all about ratings. My guess is another ventriloquist would never win the show. Terry Fator won because of his vocal talents combined with vent. That's not to knock his skills - but if he had done strictly comedy, my bet is he'd still be working the fair & corporate markets as an unknown. Either way - John got great exposure on the commercials and the show - so he won in that regard. If he does get called to Vegas - I wish him the best. Tom |

Now I understand where my confusion was; John was voted by at least two judges to move up to Las Vegas, not that he auditioned in Las Vegas in the first round of talent reviews.
Then even though he was approved, he was bumped off the list of talent and inserted in a secondary wild card list. |

Saw the segment with John in it on my DVR last night! What I saw was HILARIOUS and I wish AGT would air more of the REAL TALENT that isn't aired rather than all the STUPID contestants that the judges end up voting off anyway. To me, seeing those kinds of acts are a waste of my time and some are plain DUMB to show in any form! Sharron was laughing her hind-end off at the antics of John and Nick! I bet his entire routine was just as funny, if not more so, than what I saw!
GREAT JOB, John!! It's a shame such talent gets relegated to second tier status when others who shouldn't even be on the same stage get ahead! As much as I don't care for Piers Morgan's opinions and comments, most of the time, he is usually "spot on" when it comes to acts that do NOT deserve to be voted through to the next level! Is AGT supposed to be a real talent search or just a facsimile of one?? IMHO. |

Capt. Kirk,
John is supposed to be getting us a video of the "real" performance. If and when we get it, I will load it on YouTube and post a link in here for all to see. Steve http://www.thedummyshoppe.com |

I think it is highly improbable that another ventriloquist would win AGT so soon after Terry Fator
This is Just My Humble Opinion |

I agree with Buzz on the issue of another vent actually winning AGT. However, AGT should AT LEAST "showcase" the vents that do audition and warrent, via their talent/act, national regognition. Way too many talentless jokes are shown weekly and I still can't figure out what talent Sharron had/has to justify her being a judge on the show at all. IMHO.

Let's remember that these kinds of talent shows are reality shows, thus they're more interested to show stuff that they think will showcase more "human interest" than actually feature real talents. That's why we see more airtime of mediocre acts vs great ones like John's. It seems one has to have an "interesting" life story PLUS extraordinary talent to win. It's all rating game.

You hit the nail on the head, it’s a rating game |

CaptKirk;
Your comment about Sharron goes for all three judges. What credentials do any of the judges posses to make recommendations for the advancement of a performers career or even have the ability to judge talent on a national televised program? |

Buzz: I agree with the exception of Howie Mandel who is a bonified comic talent himself and a reasonably accomplished actor. I would say he alone does have the credentials to actually judge someone else's talent. I remember when I saw "Walk Like A Man" years ago. I thought he was pretty darn funny in that movie. I also like his demeaner on the show. David Hasselhoff was a joke and as much a jerk as Piers Morgan, IMHO. I know that AGT is only entertainment and that human interest stories can add drama to an otherwise talentless contestant. I just wish they would adhere more to the show's name, America's Got Talent, and actually show more of it. One thing I also don't particularly care for is the fact that singers usually comprise the bulk of the final contestants. Isn't there an "American Idol" show that they can steer towards to showcase that kind of talent? I even think there's another new singing contest show on now called "The Voice"(??).

I really hope there'd be a talent show where the contestants' life story will be shown ONLY right after they win or lose--or when the season ends... so that they will be judged based on their talents alone and not on how miserable they are in life.

CaptKirk;
Howie Mandel is an excellent comedian and actor, I have met him and observed his ability to have a serious conversation or make a respected judgment. In the current position of judging another performers’ talent, what credentials does Howie posses to make recommendations for the advancement of a singing, dancing or any other performing art outside of comedy. |
