Resurrecting an old thread from the dead. I just purchased IR from an esteemed member of the Café. I received everything that came with IR originally; however, it needs an adjustment Can you someone PM or send email me any instructions on how to adjust IR?

Weird, pretty sure directions mention how to adjust it.

The person I bought it from didn't have these instructions. The original, written instructions showed how to open and perform with IR. I thought it was strange as well that there were no directions included on how to adjust it. With that said, I love it, sanded it to remove any small bits of rust, rubbed some oil in the unit to prevent rust, added a few scratches to cover up one seam on one of the short sides, and tested it out on the wife and kids. It passed a tough test since my wife has a sharp eye and quickly tells me what she enjoys (will use professionally) and doesn't enjoy (go back to the drawing board). Now, it handles like a joy, looks like it spare metal that came from a metal shop instead of a jewelry shop, and is just fun to perform. |

Hansen Chien sells a version of this trick called Holy Wood. It’s solid block of wood instead of a steel block. He has a nice presentation where he says he is turning the cards back to their original form. Then it turns to a block of wood.

Do the grain lines in the wood lessen the illusion? I don't have Jamie's version, but the steel block seems more formidable.

FINALLY managed to pick one of these up 'used' on The Cafe. Reading through this thread (currently at page 26 - Good Heavens, this has to be the longest thread on the Cafe!). Phenomenal piece of gear. Why am I always late to the party?

Dido that. I’ve loved mine since I bought it from Jamie, just snugged mine up a bit to prevent any determined spects from separating even a little.
Also have Hansen’s Holy Wood, another really nice piece. NM |

Yeah, I sometimes regret selling mine a few years back but have to say that Holy Wood is so much lighter and I do like the wood premise of going back in time. But IR was definitely a very nice piece. Somebody needs to work something out with Jamie and start manufacturing these again. It seems there is a big demand for them. I also very much like Punct and Minted, which are smaller versions but same basic effect.

Does anyone even know what happened to Jamie? Did he leave magic completely or just the industry part? I wonder if he still at least does shows or magic Friday for himself?

So, I started just being a bit more gentle while squeezing it and not just quickly clamping down.....It worked and then it just stopped making the noise all together. A bit of linseed oil or very thin wax done the trick with mine.

What are these selling for? I don’t use mine and if there is demand for one then I’d be willing to sell. I live in New Zealand so shipping costs might make it a bit expensive. What are these going for at the moment?
