Added another entry to the weirdipedia on the cuss of strife. Might add more on the peasant revolts as with recent events in the UK it seems suitably topical.

Here is the box Chris gave me early last year (I own a couple more) this is one of the early ones, it made the rounds with us in Blackpool 2011 and elsewhere before I brought it back to sunny South Florida. Chris' idea of putting (carving/burning/whatever) medieval images into hand-aged boxes was a real treat, everyone who sees them seems to like them and their uniqueness. Chris' craftsmanship with these is superb.

Hey Alex - it looks like you!
Good to see you back man - get in touch! This was one of the first picture boxes I did. It seems like years ago now, in fact is was just over a year. How quickly this last year has flown. Just to keep you all updated, I am currently finishing a couple of 'Dream Boxes' these are boxes that are based upon guided fantasies that I undertake with the client. I would LOVE to show you one of these, as they are VERY special. However, they always turn out too personal and the last thing the customer wants to do is show a picture of his psyche to everyone else! I am also working on three other box projects. The first is a very experimental technique of trapping images as they form between the layers of varnish. There is an aspect of this that is very...... well, genuinely strange! Some of you who have my later boxes will know what I am talking about. The next theme I am pursuing is card boxes themed around old magic posters - the only difference is the magician on the poster is *you*! The third idea is a little top secret as it links in with one of Paul and my launch releases - however, I will show you some piccies to whet your appetite when they are done. I am also hoping to find time to work my original artwork into boxes too - my own stuff is VERY different. It's all about time! Just a quick note to those of you who I have contacted me regarding boxes. My plan from now on is to just make one at a time - with a strict 'first come first served' basis. Got a lot to do for September, so I need to slow down on the box making.

This is a bit off topic, but I received a call the other day from an old friend who works at the Smithan Institute's department of artifacts and ancient religion downtown. Â In the course of our chat he mentioned an odd little chest they recently acquired. Â Not sure why but the curious nature of the call captured my imagination and hence the association to this thread.

Had another chat with my friend.  He's generously invited me downtown to checkout what he describes as a real curiosity.  He's the kind of fellow who has a habit of talking faster when he gets excited about a particular subject.  One of the most gracious fellows you'd ever meet.  Apparently this box wasn't an acquisition but a finding.  If I can work it out, I'll likely take him up on the offer.  This is getting increasing more interesting.
Anyone else enjoy marveling over the painstaking beauty of the workmanship of ancient museum pieces? Â The simplicity of the mass produced goods of our modern world come across as cold and lifeless in comparison. Â Yet even the simplest of ancient artifacts seem to breath a life of their own as if they are the living soul of the hands that created them. Â They seem to glow a spiritual aura that is nothing short of mesmerizing. Wish me luck.

This message comes on location from the basement research facilities at the institute.  What a fascinating place.  The mysterious box I'm told was unearthed during a construction dig.  Will attempt to share a cell phone pic of this curious relic and its contents with you shortly.  Stay tuned.

Holding the box in my hands, I'm humbled and filled with awe at this beautiful creation. Breathtakingly handcrafted in every detail by the Elite master craftsman himself, such boxes as this are nothing short of a true work of art for the bizarre collector.

Had to mention! Went to a benefit bizarre/artwork show(called 'Night Gallery') last weekend for a animal shelter.
There was allot of local artist and a few from out of state. I had my Cuss Box and ECC . The artwork on the cards and box,(Chris)blew away all the artist at the event. Also had a couple pieces of Mark's art that kicked major Butt!(Shrunken Head, and Bat). The boys across the pond are turning out some incredible stuff! -G

Amazing how far these have come - I never actually saw myself as a box maker! The original idea was to send the stuff out in a simple wooden box - purely because the card boxes were arriving damaged into the US after passing through the spade-like fists of your customs officers. The rest, as they say is history!
Also, as a committed veggie with some thing of an impromptu dog rescue operation going on at the moment - I am *really* pleased about the context for the show. Great stuff big G!
