Ok, so I raise doves a little bit as a hobby. I've never done magic before, honestly I always thought I was too much of a klutz to get anything past people. Anyway, I'm here because I started looking for information on training my birds beyond just "step up" and "step down."
For whatever reason, dove hobbyists seem to often neglect training much further than this, if at all, so I found this site. I'm looking to learn more on training my birds and maybe get into a bit of this magic stuff while I'm at it. Honestly, it looks like a blast, and I'm sure I can learn a few of the smaller tricks for fun if I don't wind up going further with it.

Welcome Libis,
A person who already loves Doves might make a Great Dove Magician. I expect you would be very kind to the birds and not subject them to undue stress. -Mary Mowder |

Welcome to the Café - if you go down the list of topics you will find "Poly wants a cracker" where you will find discussions about doves. I hope you enjoy yourself here and learn some new things. Bob Latta (aka Troppo Bob) |

It looks like I'm going to learn a lot here, and my training technique is already improving since reading about four pages of posts in "Polly Wants a Cracker." It's so great to see a bit more discipline and structure developing in my babies. I think I'm going to start keeping an eye out for books around amazon.com etc. (I'm a college student, so I usually look for used/cheap books.)

You came to the right place. There's tons of good "free which is especially good for college students" advice.
Welcome! David
